Role Description

Kormans LLP is seeking a full-time Legal Assistant (Mandarin & English Speaking) to join our growing team in Markham, Ontario.

The successful candidate will provide administrative and legal support to our Real Estate practice. This role requires excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, real estate agents, mortgage professionals, and other third parties in both Mandarin and English.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a law firm environment, preferably in real estate law, and be comfortable managing multiple files in a fast-paced setting.

Key Responsibilities

Manage incoming mail, emails, and telephone communications.
Open and maintain real estate transaction files from inception to completion.
Prepare, review, and organize legal documents and correspondence.
Schedule appointments and coordinate meetings with clients and third parties.
Communicate with lawyers, law clerks, clients, real estate agents, mortgage brokers, lenders, and other stakeholders.
Maintain accurate electronic and physical file records.
Assist with administrative tasks related to real estate transactions.
Provide general support to lawyers and legal staff to ensure efficient file management and client service.
Ensure deadlines are met and all file information is current and accurately documented.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

Fluency in both English and Mandarin (spoken and written) is required.
Post-secondary education in Legal Administration, Law Clerk Studies, Business Administration, or a related field.
Previous experience as a Legal Assistant, preferably in a real estate law practice.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat.
Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Exceptional client service and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Preferred Assets (Not Required)

Experience with any of the following would be considered an asset:

Teraview
Conveyancer
Unity
CosmoLex
Knowledge of residential and commercial real estate transactions
Basic accounting and trust accounting knowledge
Familiarity with Law Society of Ontario requirements and real estate procedures
