Full job description

About the Role

The Exterminators Inc. is looking for an experienced Local SEO Specialist to manage and improve organic search performance across our WordPress websites serving markets throughout Ontario.

This is a hands-on, execution-focused role covering local SEO, Google Business Profiles, link building, technical and on-page optimization, and ongoing website improvement.

Content production, paid advertising and social media are handled separately.

Responsibilities

Execute local, on-page and technical SEO, including keyword research, page optimization, internal linking, structured data, indexing, crawlability and page-performance improvements.
Manage and optimize Google Business Profiles and local citations, and monitor organic and Map Pack performance across the markets we serve.
Research and execute ongoing link-building campaigns through competitor backlink analysis, direct outreach, local and industry opportunities, partnerships, sponsorships, memberships and relevant paid or earned placements.
Monitor Google Search Console, GA4, rankings and competitor activity to identify opportunities, investigate performance changes and prioritize SEO work.
Implement SEO changes directly within WordPress, including editing, optimizing and building pages using Elementor and existing website layouts.
Monitor website health, perform routine WordPress, plugin and theme updates, troubleshoot common website issues, and assist with website migrations when required.
Coordinate more complex website and hosting issues with managed hosting providers and maintain clear records of SEO work and results.

Required Qualifications

3+ years of hands-on SEO experience, including demonstrated local SEO experience.
Strong hands-on experience with WordPress and Elementor.
Demonstrated experience managing and optimizing Google Business Profiles.
Demonstrated experience with backlink prospecting, outreach and link acquisition.
Strong working knowledge of Google Search Console, Google Analytics 4, Ahrefs and/or Semrush, Screaming Frog and rank-tracking software.
Strong understanding of local, technical and on-page SEO.
Experience managing SEO across multiple websites, locations or local business accounts.
Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to identify opportunities, prioritize work, implement changes and evaluate results independently.

Preferred Experience

Experience with local service businesses, multi-location businesses or within an SEO agency is strongly preferred.

Experience with WordPress website migrations and basic HTML/CSS is considered an asset.

Consistent acquisition of relevant, quality backlinks.
Healthy, well-optimized websites with technical issues identified and addressed proactively.
Measurable improvement in qualified organic traffic and leads.

This is a Toronto-based hybrid position. Some in-office work will be required during onboarding and training.
