Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented CNC Fiber Laser Setup Operator to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and setting up fiber laser cutting machines to produce precise metal components according to engineering specifications. Your expertise will ensure efficient operation, high-quality output, and adherence to safety standards. Responsibilities
- Set up and calibrate CNC fiber laser cutting machines, ensuring optimal performance for each job order
- Read and interpret technical blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) specifications to accurately program and configure equipment
- Program CNC laser machines using specialized software, making adjustments as needed for different materials and thicknesses
- Operate auxiliary equipment such as forklifts, cranes, hand tools, and measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, and precision measuring devices to handle sheet metal and fabricated parts safely and efficiently
- Conduct quality inspections throughout the production process using visual checks and measurement tools to ensure parts meet strict tolerances and specifications
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC machinery, troubleshoot issues promptly, and coordinate with maintenance teams for repairs or upgrades
- Follow safety protocols diligently, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe handling of electrical discharge machining (EDM), plasma cutting tools, press brake machines, CNC lathes, milling machines, stamping presses, welding equipment, and other fabrication tools
- Maintain accurate production records, setup sheets, tooling logs, and inspection reports for traceability and continuous improvement
- Support fabrication processes by assisting with assembly tasks when required and ensuring all tooling is properly set up for efficient workflow
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating CNC fiber laser cutting machines or similar CNC machining equipment in a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading, GD&T principles, and technical drawings
- Hands-on knowledge of CNC programming software and machine setup procedures
- Familiarity with various manufacturing processes including electrical discharge machining (EDM), plasma cutting, welding, stamping presses, CNC milling machines, lathes, and press brakes is highly desirable
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot machine issues quickly and effectively
- Ability to handle sheet metal safely using forklifts, cranes, hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments
- Basic math skills necessary for measurements, calculations related to machining tolerances, and process adjustments
- Excellent attention to detail with a focus on quality inspection standards throughout production cycles
- Strong safety awareness with knowledge of proper PPE usage and safety protocols in a manufacturing setting
