Overview
We are seeking a passionate and organized Fundraising Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in developing and implementing fundraising strategies to support our mission. Reporting to the Executive Director and working within a small team, the fundraising coordinator plans, implements, and evaluates fund development activities from individual, corporate, service club, church, foundation, and government donors. With a passion for the organization’s mission, this person will be an independent, goal-oriented, and eager action-taker with the ability to learn new concepts and the capability to apply them in a self-guided environment. This person will be responsible for developing and executing a fundraising plan for the organization that results in donations received so that the organization can fulfill its mission to inspire young people to connect with the natural world through photography.This position requires a proactive individual who can manage multiple projects, engage with donors, and utilize various digital tools to enhance our fundraising efforts.
About the Organization
Focus on Nature connects kids to nature through photography workshops in local elementary schools and at camp. Our full-day school workshops for grades 3 and up are very popular with both teachers and students. The ideal candidate would present with a great passion for either photography or a love for the arts, nature, and children.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute fundraising campaigns that align with organizational goals.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to enhance online presence through Squarespace and social media platforms.
- Assist in budgeting for fundraising initiatives, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
- Prepare reports on fundraising progress and outcomes for stakeholders.
- Audit current and past fundraising activities of the organization
- Plan future fundraising activities of the organization, including but not limited to strategies for major gifts, direct response, events, and planned giving
- Determine human and material resources required for fundraising task completion
- Create, document, and implement systems and procedures for fundraising task completion
- Create or enhance a Case for Support that outlines fundraising needs to donors
- Build or enhance information management system, including CRM implementation or adjustments
- Identify, research, build relationships with, solicit, and thank donors who believe in the mission of the organization and inspire them to make philanthropic donations via a mix of fundraising strategies
Qualifications and Experience
- This position is funded by Canada Summer Jobs, and the candidate must be between 18 and 29 years of age at the start of their training and live in the Milton - Halton Hills South region
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Post-secondary degree or diploma or similar experience in a program that strengthens communication skills
- Demonstrated success in a previous sales or fundraising role
- Comfort contacting prospective donors with the purpose of requesting funding
- Proficient in the use of productivity tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, email, CRM systems, etc.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders (volunteers, donors, members, board directors, etc.)
- Confidence to ask questions when undertaking new tasks
- Excellent organizational and planning skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to manage expectations of multiple leaders and advocate for the prioritization of fundraising tasks when additional tasks are requested that are outside of the fundraising plan
- Commitment to ongoing professional development with a desire to take on new challenges
- Proven ability to exercise diplomacy and good judgment
- Ability to work independently using an above-average level of initiative to complete tasks
