About the Role
We’re looking for an Intermediate to Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing engineering team in Mississauga, ON.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will take ownership of the mechanical design of complex custom automotive test and validation systems used in real-world production environments. These systems integrate mechanical structures, automation hardware, electrical components, and software-driven controls into fully functional test solutions.
You will be responsible for translating system requirements into robust mechanical designs that are manufacturable, serviceable, and production-ready. Your work will directly impact how our systems perform on the factory floor, from initial concept through design, build, and commissioning.
This role is best suited for a technically strong engineer who is confident owning complex mechanical systems end-to-end. You thrive in environments where precision, accountability, and engineering discipline matter, and you are motivated by seeing your designs deployed in real production applications.
Success in this role requires strong problem-solving ability, deep mechanical design expertise, and the ability to collaborate effectively across electrical, software, and manufacturing teams in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.
What You’ll Do
- Interpret system requirements, specifications, and timelines to define mechanical design scope and approach
- Lead mechanical design of custom automation and automotive test systems using SolidWorks and PDM
- Develop robust, production-ready designs with proper consideration for manufacturability, assembly, and serviceability
- Produce detailed drawings using GD&T principles for precision manufacturing environments
- Own mechanical integration across electrical, controls, and software system
- Prepare and present design review packages and participate in customer and internal technical reviews
- Generate and maintain accurate BOMs using MiniMRP and ensure alignment with released designs
- Support sourcing activities, including supplier engagement and technical clarification where required
- Collaborate closely with Manufacturing during fabrication, assembly, and commissioning phases
- Provide technical support during troubleshooting, both on-site and remote, as needed
- Ensure design intent is maintained through build, assembly, and final system validation
- Oversee final mechanical validation against actual build prior to shipment
- Support continuous improvement of design standards, modularization, and engineering best practices
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree, Diploma, or equivalent skills and experience in Mechanical Engineering
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks)
- 7+ years of experience in Mechanical Design
- Knowledge and experience working with GD&T
- Knowledge of engineering principles and concepts (mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics)
- Knowledge of safety requirements and standards (e.g. OSHA, ISO 12100)
- Understanding of ergonomics and human factors principles
- Experience with design, development, mechanical assembly, and testing of mechanical systems
- Both on-equipment and remote mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Excellent collaboration skills, you’re comfortable working with cross-functional teams including engineering, electrical, and manufacturing
- A valid passport and ability to travel to the U.S. and Mexico for support
Nice to Have
- Professional Engineer (P. Eng) license or working towards it
- Certifications in Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing
- Experience in the automotive industry
