Safa & Marwa is a private not-for profit Islamic School in its 29th year of operation located in central Mississauga. Safa & Marwa School is registered by the Ontario Ministry of Education and we offer a fully accredited program from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a knowledgeable, patient, and inspiring Islamic Studies, Quran, & Arabic Teacher. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in teaching Quran, the ability to manage a group of students, and a passion for nurturing memorization and revision skills in accordance with traditional Islamic scholarship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strong Islamic Studies background
- Strong memorization of the Quran, along with correct Tajweed
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task with confidence, converting strategies into effective operational activities and achievements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, approachable for students, parents and colleagues.
- Willingness and proven ability to work within a growing school environment
- Knowledge of Ontario Curriculum and current teaching practices
- Active and ongoing research and development in academic area of expertise.
- Skills in classroom management and discipline follow-through.
- Minimum university bachelor degree, and bachelor of education, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Knowledge of the Islamic faith and practice
- OCT is an asset
- Teach students proper recitation with Tajweed and correct Makharij (pronunciation).
- Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly Hifz progress assessments.
- Provide individualized support and motivation to students at different stages of memorization.
- Maintain a positive, disciplined, and spiritually uplifting classroom environment.
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding students’ progress and areas for improvement.
Requirements:
- Ijazah in Quran recitation and/or memorization (Hifz) from a recognized Sheikh or institution.
- Proven experience teaching Quran & Arabic to children, youth, or adults.
- Strong knowledge of Tajweed and Qira’at.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to inspire students.
- Patience, empathy, and commitment to Islamic values.
- Ability to work with different age groups and levels of memorization.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Islamic studies teaching alongside Quran instruction.
- Familiarity with modern teaching tools for online or hybrid classes.
- Fluency in Arabic and English/other relevant languages.
