The Bloor-Yonge Capacity Improvements Project is a significant undertaking by the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) to expand and modernize Bloor-Yonge station – Canada’s busiest subway hub. This initiative is focused on meeting both current and future ridership needs by improving the station’s efficiency, capacity, and accessibility.
The Kenaidan Murphy Joint Venture (KMJV) is committed to transforming the station to enable faster, more reliable, and more comfortable travel throughout the Greater Toronto Area. The project will deliver upgraded facilities, contributing to a safer, cleaner, and higher-capacity subway system for passengers.

BIM Coordinator
The BIM/VDC Coordinator will support project delivery through the application of Building Information Modelling (BIM), Virtual Design and Construction (VDC), and model-based construction planning.
The role has a strong focus on 4D planning, means and methods, site logistics, construction sequencing, phasing, and scenario planning. The successful candidate will work closely with construction, engineering, planning, and design teams to use and develop project models, simulations, and visualizations that support planning, coordination, constructability, and project communication.
This is a hands-on VDC role focused on using, organizing, and augmenting design and construction models to communicate how work will be executed. The ability to work confidently in a 3D environment and develop clear construction planning visualizations is a key requirement.
To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Use, organize and maintain 3D project and construction-planning models to support constructability reviews, site logistics, temporary works, and field execution.
- Develop 4D construction sequencing simulations by linking project schedules and construction activities to model elements.
- Work directly with Construction Managers, Superintendents, Engineers, Planners, and other project personnel to translate construction strategies into model-based plans and simulations.
- Develop model-based visualizations illustrating construction means and methods, including installation approaches, work sequencing, access requirements, equipment positioning, staging, and temporary conditions.
- Create and maintain site logistics models by placing and configuring items such as site access, laydown areas, cranes and equipment, haul routes, material movement, temporary facilities, hoarding, work zones, and changing site conditions.
- Develop and compare multiple construction scenarios and sequencing options to support planning decisions and identify preferred approaches before work is executed.
- Support early works, work package planning, short-term planning, and long-term construction phasing through model-based visualization and simulation, including the placement and arrangement of temporary or construction-specific elements where required.
- Produce construction phasing animations, sequencing studies, and presentation material for planning sessions, coordination meetings, stakeholder presentations, and construction workshops.
- Identify spatial, logistical, sequencing, and constructability conflicts before they affect field operations.
- Perform model federation, coordination, clash detection, model reviews, and issue tracking using BIM/VDC tools.
- Adapt and augment existing design or construction models where required to represent construction methodology, temporary works, site constraints, logistics, and planned construction conditions. Create simple construction-specific geometry when suitable content is not already available.
- Coordinate design, trade, survey, and construction models to support construction planning and execution.
- Support integration of BIM/VDC information with schedule activities and other project controls information.
- Train and support project team members in the practical use of BIM/VDC and digital construction tools.
- Identify and recommend digital construction technologies and workflows that can improve planning, productivity, coordination, and communication.
Education and Experience:
- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architectural Technology, Engineering Technology, BIM/VDC, or a related field.
- Approximately 2 to 5 years of relevant BIM/VDC or digital construction experience is preferred.
- Previous experience working for a general contractor, construction manager, infrastructure contractor, or within a construction-focused VDC team is highly desirable.
- Strong 3D modelling experience is essential. Candidates should be comfortable creating and modifying models rather than solely reviewing models produced by designers.
- Experience developing construction logistics, phasing, sequencing, temporary works, or means-and-methods models is highly desirable.
- Experience supporting construction teams during preconstruction or active construction is considered a strong asset.
- Civil Engineering or construction-related technical background is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, constructability, and sequencing.
- Ability to understand a construction methodology and represent it clearly in a 3D/4D environment using available project models, planning objects, and supporting geometry where required.
- Ability to visualize how a project will be constructed over time and communicate that sequence clearly.
- Strong spatial awareness, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Understanding of site logistics, temporary works, access constraints, staging, and work-area planning.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, design models, schedules, and technical information.
- Ability to develop and compare alternative construction scenarios.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work directly with construction personnel, designers, engineers, and project stakeholders.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex construction activities through models, animations, diagrams, and visualizations.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and help implement new digital construction technologies and methods.
Salary Range: Between $75,000 to $115,000 depending on experience.
