Job Description
Grace Care Communities is seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance & Facilities Technician to join our team at Grace Haven Residence, an 80-bed Special Care Home located in Moncton, New Brunswick.
Reporting to the Manager of Operations, the successful candidate is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, repair, and operation of the residence. This position ensures the building remains safe, functional, attractive, and compliant through preventative maintenance, minor repairs, contractor coordination, and oversight of key building systems. While primarily supporting Grace Haven Residence, the position will from time to time provide maintenance support to Atlantic Baptist Housing properties, including seniors' apartment communities, as operational needs require.
Our Maintenance team plays an important role in ensuring the residence remains safe, well maintained, and comfortable for residents, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, and general building repairs within the scope of the position.
- Monitor and maintain a working knowledge of HVAC, boilers, in floor heating, fire alarm, sprinkler, emergency generator, emergency lighting, domestic water, and building security systems; recognize abnormal operation and coordinate qualified contractors when required.
- Maintain preventative maintenance schedules, work orders, inspection records, warranties, and service documentation using maintenance software.
- Coordinate contractors and vendors, maintaining positive professional relationships and ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.
- Assist with lawn care, landscaping, snow removal, salting, sanding, seasonal projects, and property inspections.
- Maintain clean, organized maintenance, mechanical, electrical, and storage areas.
- Assist with regulatory inspections and comply with licensing, fire safety, WHMIS, occupational health and safety, and infection prevention requirements.
- Provide maintenance support to Atlantic Baptist Housing properties as assigned, including inspections, preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and special projects.
- Perform other duties related to the safe operation of the residence as assigned.
- Use Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel for communication, reporting, scheduling, inventory, and record keeping.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent in related field
- Previous experience in commercial, institutional, healthcare, or residential building maintenance.
- Working knowledge of general building maintenance, including minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, and basic HVAC maintenance.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and ability to learn maintenance management software.
- Familiarity with automated energy management systems is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational, communication, troubleshooting, prioritization, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently, multitask, and exercise sound judgment.
- Compassion, patience, respect, and professionalism when interacting with older adults.
Working Conditions:
This position requires frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and outdoor work in varying weather conditions. Occasional evenings, weekends, participation in an on-call rotation, emergency call ins, and travel to Atlantic Baptist Housing properties may be required.
