in any of our New Brunswick offices, including Fredericton, Moncton, Saint John, Bathurst or Grand Falls.

About the Role
As a Planner at GEMTEC, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of communities within which we live and work. You will collaborate with our multidisciplinary team of experts, including engineers, technicians, and environmental specialists, to contribute to policy and development that promote built environments that are functional, aesthetically pleasing, and sustainable.
Other Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development or amendment of urban and rural municipal plans, zoning regulations, and other land-use tools, such as development agreements and site plans.
- Prepare planning-related reports, such as planning rationales, urban design briefs, and/or market impact assessments.
- Contribute to the development of design concepts for public and private spaces, including subdivisions and municipal transportation corridors.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary project teams to integrate planning principles into infrastructure projects.
- Conduct research and analysis to inform planning and other related decision-making processes.
- Prepare and present proposals to clients and stakeholders.
- Coordinate and present at public/stakeholder meetings, incl. associated travel and work outside of normal business hours.
- Interpret zoning regulations, and other regulatory requirements, such as environmental regulations.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in planning.
- Support business development and strategic planning.
- Review and contribute to technical deliverables prepared by other disciplines, incl. civil engineering reporting, geotechnical, environmental assessments, hydrogeological, etc.
Your qualifications and what you bring:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban Design, Planning, or a related field.
- Eligible to obtain Registered or Licensed Professional Planner designation.
- Member of Canadian Institute of Planners considered an asset.
- 4-6 years related planning experience.
- Proven experience in planning, preferably within a consultancy or similar environment.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software, such as GIS, SketchUp, and/or Adobe Creative Suite considered an asset.
- Knowledge of planning principles, planning policy, and zoning regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into solutions.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills necessary to effectively convey information to clients and other stakeholders, including members of the public.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and advance and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Bilingual in French and English would be considered an asset.
