The Position

Under the supervision of the Director of Legal Services, the Professional plays a key role in the organization and contributes to the smooth operation of the firm.

Your Responsibilities

Provide personalized remote legal consultations in clear and accessible languages across various fields of law (residential leasing, real estate, immigration, administrative law, criminal law, university law, labor law, etc.);
Prepare cases for litigation: fact and legal analysis, evidence review, drafting procedures, and representation strategy;
Support the current team in representing clients before civil courts and administrative bodies in a variety of legal areas (university disciplinary committees, Landlord Tenant Board, Small Claims Court);
Analyze legal files and situations presented by clients to assess their rights, obligations, and options;
Advise clients throughout the legal process, clearly explaining the issues, next steps, and possible options;
Evaluate the chances of success of potential legal actions, and offer realistic and client-tailored solutions;
Rigorously track deadlines and procedural obligations;
Collaborate with the entire legal team to ensure a cohesive approach;
Stay current with legislative and regulatory changes in relevant areas of law;
Occasionally participate in hearings: meet with clients to prepare their testimony, present evidence, conduct examinations, present arguments, and negotiate settlements if needed.

Your Profile

Licensee as a lawyer from a Canadian Law Society for at least two (2) years;
Ability to manage a high volume of legal cases and prioritize effectively;
Demonstrates empathy and active listening with clients;
Communicates clearly and adapts messaging to different audiences;
Resourceful and solution-oriented;
A team player who encourages collaboration and supports colleagues;
Inspires trust and contributes positively to the team dynamic;
Proficient in both French and English, spoken and written;
Licensee of the Quebec Bar is an asset.

Le poste

Sous la supervision de la Directrice des services juridiques, le Professionnel joue un rôle clé dans l’organisation de Novum et contribue au bon fonctionnement du cabinet.

Tes responsabilités

Offrir des consultations juridiques personnalisées aux clients à distance, dans un langage clair et accessible dans des domaines de droit diversifiés (louage résidentiel, immobilier, immigration, administratif, pénal, droit universitaire, droit du travail, etc.);
Préparer les dossiers judiciarisés : analyse des faits et du droit applicable, évaluation de la preuve, rédaction des procédures, stratégies de représentation;
Soutenir l’équipe déjà en place pour assurer la représentation des clients devant les tribunaux civils et les instances administratives pour des dossiers portant sur des domaines de droit diversifiés (comité de discipline universitaire, Commission de la location immobilière, Cour des Petites créances);
Analyser les dossiers et les situations juridiques présentés par les clients afin d’évaluer leurs droits, obligations et options;
Conseiller les clients tout au long du processus judiciaire, en expliquant clairement les enjeux, les étapes à venir et les options possibles;
Évaluer les chances de succès des recours envisagés, proposer des solutions réalistes et adaptées aux besoins du client;
Assurer un suivi rigoureux des échéanciers et des obligations procédurales.
Travailler en collaboration avec l’ensemble des collègues de l’équipe juridique pour s’assurer d’une approche concertée;
Maintenir à jour ses connaissances en regard des changements législatifs et règlementaires dans les domaines de droit concernés;
De façon sporadique, participer aux audiences : rencontre avec les clients pour préparer leur témoignage, présentation de la preuve et des interrogatoires, plaidoiries, négociation de règlements, le cas échéant.

Ton profil

Être membre d'un barreau canadien de common law (Alberta, Colombie-Britannique, Manitoba, Ontario, etc.) à titre d’avocat depuis un minium de deux (2) ans;
Avoir les habiletés pour gérer un grand volume de dossiers judiciarisés et être en mesure d’organiser son travail en fonction des priorités;
Faire preuve d’empathie et d’écoute auprès de la clientèle;
Adapter son message à son interlocuteur et susciter son intérêt;
Faire preuve de débrouillardise;
Avoir la capacité de travailler en équipe, favoriser la collaboration et soutenir les collègues de travail;
Inspirer confiance et influencer positivement l’équipe;
Avoir une bonne maîtrise du français et de l’anglais, tant à l’oral qu’à l’écrit;
Être membre du Barreau du Québec, un atout.
