VFP9 or VB.NET Developer @ TSI Systemgroup - Hybrid
The Mission: Legacy Meets Next-Gen Cloud
At TSI Systemgroup, we don’t just build software; we build the backbone of medium-sized entrepreneurial businesses across North America. Our flagship product, TRIFORCE.NET, is a 100% Canadian-made Enterprise Management System that empowers diverse verticals. We cater to entrepreneurial SMBs that require maximum flexibility by supporting distributors, manufacturers (both process and discrete), importers, and service organizations, with internal users ranging from 5 to 100+. Our options include our Warehouse Management System and 3PL integration, robotic process automation, EDI and all forms of electronic commerce, not least our hugely successful multi-tenant Mi-AMIGO B2B Portal.
We’ve been at this since the early 1980s, evolving a single, highly engineered codebase that ensures no client is ever left behind. Now, we’re at a turning point. As we transition our client base to a cloud-based subscription model and gear up for an aggressive marketing push, we need a visionary developer to take the torch.
The Opportunity: Become the Guardian of TRIFORCE
Our current Database Architect and Lead Developer—the "Guardian of the Standard" for over 40 years—is retiring in June 2026, but will continue on in a consulting role as required. This isn't just a job opening; it’s a mentorship-to-leadership transition.
You will work directly with our outgoing lead to download decades of architectural wisdom before stepping into a key leadership role reporting to the Chief Software Architect.
Location: We offer flexible working arrangements, but you must be based in Quebec for occasional in-person collaboration at our Westmount (Montreal) offices.
What You’ll Do
- The Deep Dive: Embark on an intensive guided orientation to master the inner workings of TRIFORCE.
- Architectural Stewardship: Maintain and safeguard our unique framework while driving the design and growth of complex, interrelated business applications.
- Modernize & Optimize: Proactively refactor and optimize existing code to ensure a seamless, high-performance transition to the cloud.
- Lead the Team: Provide technical guidance to our developers, foster a culture of quality, and develop robust test plans for new logic.
- Solve the Complex: Bridge the gap between server-level technology and application logic to resolve high-level support incidents and suggest innovative architectural alternatives.
Who You Are
You are a seasoned developer who appreciates the power of stable, long-term software architecture but has the hunger to drive technological advancement.
Must-Haves:
- Linguistic Profile: You are a clear, effective communicator who can document complex logic and lead meetings with precision. Fluency in English is a must. Conversational French would be a bonus.
- VFP/VB.NET Mastery: You have 5–10+ years of deep experience with Visual FoxPro 9 (VFP9) or VB.NET. You understand its nuances and how to leverage it within a modern ecosystem.
- Full-Stack Depth: 10+ years of building commercial applications using Microsoft technologies and 5–10+ years of expert-level SQL database design.
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a proven track record of equivalent experience.
- Proximity: You currently reside in Quebec and can commute to Westmount as needed.
The "Gold Star" List:
- You have a solid grasp of accounting, manufacturing, or distributionbusiness logic.
- You have experience transitioning legacy systems to Cloud/SaaS models.
Why TSI System Group?
- Stability & Impact: We are a tight-knit, committed team that is empowered well beyond its headcount.
- Ownership: You aren't just a cog in a wheel; you are the successor to a 40-year legacy with a direct say in the future of the product.
