Full job description

Artiste CFX (effets spéciaux de créatures)
Lieu : Québec (hybride)

Responsabilités du poste

Créer des éléments de haute qualité (cheveux, fourrure, musculature, peau, matériels et costumes) pour des projets en prises de vues réelles.
Exécuter des simulations, préparer les grooms et effectuer le sculpting de plans d’effets visuels selon les besoins, en étroite collaboration avec le superviseur CG et le superviseur d’effets visuels, afin de concrétiser la vision des clients.
Travailler à la fois sur les mouvements de personnages animés et ceux provenant de Matchmove, afin de correspondre aux deux surfaces filmées et de créer de nouveaux éléments selon les briefs créatifs.
Besoin secondaire de mise en place du rigging de base (véhicules,accessoires et autres objets de support), ainsi que tous ajustements et modifications ou de créations simples de rigging pouvant aider à faciliter les simulations CFX.
Communiquer proactivement les meilleures approches que vous envisagez d'entreprendre pour relever les défis techniques et artistiques.
Collaborer avec vos collègues des équipes d’animation, de création d'éléments, d’effets spéciaux et de création graphique, tout en partageant vos expertises et esprit critique afin de garantir les meilleurs résultats pour le projet.
Respecter les quotas de plans d’effets visuels selon le calendrier prévu.
Maintenir et assurer une communication efficace avec l'équipe de production de la série concernant votre calendrier, horaire et vos délais.

Qualifications et Compétences Indispensables

Minimum de 3 ans d'expérience en Création de créature dans un studio d’effets spéciaux
Formation technique avec expérience reconnue sur des tâches artistiques
Excellente compréhension de la mécanique corporelle, jeu d’acteur et des techniques de narration
Maîtrise approfondie de Houdini et expérience préalable dans le grooming de base et la simulation CFX en production
Expérience antérieure de la plateforme Linux
Connaissance en animation, rigging, modélisation et effets visuels
Capacité à performer et effectuer plusieurs tâches, à définir les priorités et résoudre les problèmes
Collaboratif par nature
Ouverture aux directives et capacité à s’adapter au changement
Autonome, bon communicateur et excellent esprit d'équipe
Atouts : Connaissance de script avec Mel ou Python, expérience avec Houdini VEX/scripting

CFX (Creature FX) Artist
Location: Quebec (hybrid)

Job Responsibilities

Create high quality hair, fur, muscle, skin and costume assets for live action projects.
Run simulations, prepare grooms, and execute shot sculpt as required, working closely with the CG Supervisor and VFX Supervisor to achieve the client’s vision.
Work with both animated and matchmoved character motions to both match filmed surfaces, and to create new elements, per the creative briefs.
Secondary need for basic rigging - vehicles, props, and other supporting objects, and any simple rig adjustments or creation that could assist with driving CFX simulations.
Proactively communicate the best approaches you can envision to technical and artistic challenges.
Collaborate with your peers in the animation, assets, FX and CG team, sharing your expertise and critical thinking to ensure the best possible results for the project.
Deliver shot work quotas according to schedule.
Maintain effective communication with show Production regarding your schedule and deadlines.

Qualifications and Essential Skills

Minimum 3 years of Creature experience in a VFX studio
Technical background with proven experience on artistic tasks
Excellent understanding of body mechanics, acting, storytelling techniques
Strong Houdini knowledge with previous experience of Houdini base groom and CFX simulation in production
Previous experience with Linux platform
An understanding of Animation, Rigging, Modeling and FX
Ability to perform multiple tasks, set priorities and solve problems
Collaborative by nature
Open to direction and able to embrace change
Self-driven, good communicator, and a great team player
Nice to have: Knowledge of scripting with Mel or Python, experience with Houdini VEX/scripting
