Job Description:
Reporting to the Professional Services Coordinator, the Social Work Technician is responsible for supporting students seeking Mental Health and Wellness services at the college. This includes receiving, screening, referring, and occasional short-term intervention with students who are experiencing or likely to experience emotional, social, academic, family or psychological difficulties.
More specifically, but not limited to, the Social Work Technician:

Acts as the front-line resource person; provides students with a needs assessment and follow-up;
- In collaboration with the mental health professionals, implements an intervention plan that responds to the problems encountered and the client's specific needs;
- Helps students identify solutions and develop action plans, while providing the necessary support;

Develops prevention and awareness tools on various subjects such as stress-management, motivation, isolation, anxiety, etc.);
- Intervenes, defuses and provides follow up support in crisis situations;
- Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders impacted by crisis situations;
- Develops and facilitates workshops and initiatives to provide concrete tools and give students opportunities to build a support network;

Supported by the Sexual Violence and Response Social Service Officer, acts as a member of the Sexual Violence and Response and Prevention team;

Develops and maintains relationships with other internal and external resources;

Maintains student records and compiles statistics.
Other related tasks which fall within the scope of the classification of this position may be assigned

Contract: August 10, 2026 until September 11, or until the return of the incumbent to their position, with the possibility of extension.

Qualifications:
- Diploma of college studies (DEC) in an appropriate specialty, or a diploma or an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority.
Conditions related to the specific position:
- DEC in a 3-year intervention-based program an asset;

Experience in a similar role within a public institution
- Demonstrated competence and experience in the area of crisis intervention and response
- Excellent judgment and analytical skills

Extensive knowledge of community resources;

Autonomy and the ability to work independently within established guidelines;

Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team;

Capacity to adapt and manage priorities with competing deadlines;

Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
