Island West Maintenance is a locally owned full-service maintenance company that operates up and down Vancouver Island. We are currently looking for positive, motivated candidates to fill full time and part time maintenance/handyman worker positions . This position requires a " do what it takes " mentality as you will be required to do whatever tasks are required that day. the tasks and duties will change frequently and could be anything on the list in the job posting. A company vehicle is provided for work. This is an exciting position with varying day to day job duties. This shift will include daytime and evening shifts ( as early as 5am-1:30pm as well as varying daytime start times and as late as 4pm-midnight) expect to have some of or all of these shifts with this position. weekday and weekend shifts will be involved as required.
Requirements:
· Highschool Diploma
· Minimum 2 years related experience
· WHMIS
· Clean CRC
· Clean Driving Abstract
· Valid class 5 drivers license
· Ability to pull trailer with truck or van
· Must have your own transportation to and from work
· Available to work evenings/nights, days, weekends, and on-call
· Willing to be called out to work on short-notice
· Safety Footwear (CSA Standard)
· Must be willing and able to complete job duties in inclement weather
· Ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery

Responsibilities:
· Be aware of site security for buildings and properties while on site. Call and deal with security companies or R.C.M.P. if and when necessary.
· Wear provided work uniform
o Shirt, pants, hat, and jacket
o (see requirements for footwear)
· Required to take daily work orders, attend job sites, interact with customer professionally and pleasantly, assess issue(s), repair/replace or deal with building issue(s) independently, and fill out work order paper work to complete job.
· Completing paperwork
· Communicating VIA smart phone
o Clocking in and out of shifts via website
o Using work related applications
o Contacting supervisors
· Indoor duties:
o janitorial and cleaning
- will be invlvoled in all aspects of all services provided by island west maintenance
-Faucet repair
o Toilet repair
o Sink and tap repair
o Plumbing repairs and maintenance
o Lightbulb replacement
o Painting
o drywall repair
o Low and high window cleaning
o Ceiling tile replacement
o Moving furniture
o Carpet cleaning
o Operation and use of various tools (drills, saws, hammers, etc.)
o Other duties as required
· Outdoor duties:
o Landscaping duties
o Painting
o Pressure washing
o Low and high window cleaning
o Towing a trailer
o Operating a parking lot sweeper
o Operating scissor lift
o Seasonal snow removal and ice management
§ Operating:
· Truck and plow
· Front end loader
· Snow blower
· Hand salter/spreader
· Shovel
o Operation and use of various tools (drills, saws, hammers, etc.)
o Other duties as required
· Janitorial duties:
o Cleaning duties – vacuuming, mopping, cleaning restrooms, lobbies etc
o Lift up to 50 lbs
o Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs of repair
o Make adjustments and minor repairs
o Stock and maintain supply rooms and work vehicle
o Be able to problem solve and maintain cleaning equipment
o Cooperate with rest of the staff and be a team player
o Follow all health and safety regulations
o Must have a smart phone to clock in and out from website
o Wear and operate back pack and upright vacuums and other assorted equipment
o May also be scheduled to do other tasks such as outdoor maintenance
