Meraki Construction is a newly established heavy construction company focused on delivering major infrastructure and civil projects across Northern British Columbia. Created to support the execution of Meraki Resources’s growing Major Projects portfolio, Meraki Construction is positioned to deliver large-scale road construction, grading and earthworks, road maintenance, and Heavy Civil and infrastructure projects tied to long-term northern development opportunities.

What you’ll do
The Accountant is responsible for assigned general accounting and transactional duties for the Company. This position provides financial and administrative support services, which may include conducting payroll, cash management, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, complex data entry, and preparing associated month-end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations. The Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, meeting month-end deadlines and adhering to company and general accounting policies and SOPs. The accountant ensures payroll and benefit administration is completed on time with a high degree of accuracy and integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Reconcile bank accounts and prepare cash activity summaries.
- Manage and process payroll function, benefits administration, and associated accounting.
- Manage AP and AR invoice processing and maintain accurate supporting records.
- Investigate and resolve accounting issues and transactions in assigned area of responsibility.
- Identify monthly accruals and prepare corresponding month-end journal entries.
- Prepare assigned balance sheet reconciliations and make necessary corrections as directed by the Controller.
- Participate in year-end audit preparation by providing requested information in a timely manner.
- Maintain SOPs for assigned areas of responsibility, reviewing annually and making and drafting recommendations for updates when required
- Participate in process improvement activities identified by the Controller.
- Assist with office administration duties as needed.
Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Familiarity with ERP accounting software and proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications.

Qualifications & Experience
- Post secondary diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience in accounting or a related financial role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation.
Working Environment
- This position will begin as a remote role, requiring candidates to work from home in Kamloops, British Columbia, with access to reliable internet.
- As the operation grows, the role will transition to an in-office position based in Kamloops, BC.

Pay: $55,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
