VI Granite & Quartz Countertops is seeking a highly experienced installer specializing in Dekton, porcelain, ultra-compact surfaces, and complex custom installations.
This is a senior-level position intended for an installer with extensive hands-on experience completing technically demanding, high-value residential and commercial projects. The successful candidate must be capable of independently managing complex installations while consistently achieving an exceptional finished product.
Projects may include:
- Large-format Dekton and porcelain countertops
- Full-height wall cladding and feature walls
- Fireplace surrounds and wall facades
- Mitred waterfall panels and built-up edges
- Full-height backsplashes
- Complex seams, cutouts, and on-site modifications
- Detailed residential and commercial installations
This is not an entry-level installer position. Applicants must have substantial, directly related experience with Dekton, porcelain, ultra-compact surfaces, or comparable large-format materials.

Location
This position works out of our showroom and fabrication facility in Nanaimo’s Boxwood area.
Most job sites are located throughout Central Vancouver Island, from Shawnigan Lake to Port Alberni. Occasional travel may be required for installations in Victoria, Tofino, the Gulf Islands, and other Vancouver Island communities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and complete complex residential and commercial installations
- Install Dekton, porcelain, granite, quartz, and other specialty surfaces
- Complete large-format wall cladding, fireplace surrounds, wall facades, full-height backsplashes, and other specialty applications
- Install mitred waterfall panels, built-up edges, and other detailed assemblies
- Produce high-quality seams using professional seaming equipment
- Perform precise on-site cutting, polishing, mitring, and custom hand fabrication
- Assess installation conditions and independently resolve technical challenges
- Identify concerns before installation and communicate effectively with the templating, fabrication, scheduling, and project teams
- Hang and secure sinks and other countertop accessories
- Secure, shim, level, and properly support installed surfaces
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets company quality standards
- Safely load, transport, handle, and unload fragile, high-value materials
- Protect customers’ homes, cabinetry, flooring, and surrounding finishes
- Maintain organized installation vehicles, tools, equipment, and job sites
- Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, designers, and other trades
- Provide guidance and hands-on training to less-experienced installation team members
- Follow company procedures and all applicable workplace safety requirements
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum five years of professional countertop installation experience
- Demonstrated experience installing Dekton, porcelain, ultra-compact surfaces, or comparable large-format materials
- Advanced experience with mitred edges, waterfall panels, complex seams, full-height applications, and detailed on-site finishing
- Experience completing both residential and commercial installations
- Ability to independently evaluate job-site conditions and troubleshoot installation challenges
- Strong understanding of proper handling, support, cutting, and installation methods for fragile and high-value materials
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing a high-quality finished product
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, measurements, installation plans, and project details
- Strong communication, teamwork, and customer-service skills
- Ability to lead an installation and collaborate effectively with other team members
- Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the position, including regularly lifting and maneuvering heavy materials with appropriate equipment and team assistance
- Valid driver’s licence and clean driver’s abstract
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- Occupational First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain it within the first three months of employment
