Full job description

This is a FT position working out of our Kanata office. We require someone with very strong bookkeeping skills who is able to work independently and manage the accounting for a number of our clients. You may be supported in this position by a small team of Junior Bookkeepers.

Job Description

Ensure timely completion of client bookkeeping (full cycle, including financials & government remittances) in Quickbooks and Xero
Review and closing of client files at month, quarter and year-end
Assemble FYE files for external accountants
Coach and mentor Junior Bookkeepers

Attributes of a "Perfect Fit"

Experience working in an accounting/bookkeeping firm, or in a multi-client environment
College Diploma in Business Accounting, or equivalent experience in full-cycle bookkeeping role
Very strong accounting knowledge (10+ years experience)
Exceptional communication skills in English
Enjoys a fast-paced and changing work environment, using good judgement and common sense
Ability to develop and maintain great relationships with clients
Ability to effectively plan, organize and control work
Comfortable functioning with a high degree of autonomy over work
Ability to analyze and interpret financial statements, and communicate results to clients
Finely-tuned time management skills
Loyalty and the ability to "Think Like an Owner"
Attention to detail
Great attitude and plays well with others
Very strong Quickbooks, Xero and Excel skills

Nice To Have but Can be Taught

Experience managing new file setups and accounting system conversions
Experience with payroll, inventory and multicurrency transactions

Good to Know

Overtime (over 44 hours/week) is very rare, even during tax season
A car is necessary as some work may be performed at client sites in future
