Line Cook

Job Description

Reporting to the Sous Chef and/or Head Chef, the Line Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality meals according to established menu standards. This role requires the ability to consistently deliver delicious dishes with excellent presentation and timely service while maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment.

An ideal candidate is skilled in food preparation and cooking techniques, works well under pressure, and can multitask effectively in a fast-paced setting. Attention to detail, teamwork, and a commitment to food quality and safety are essential. The goal of this position is to help maintain and enhance the reputation of Exit 79 Restaurant/Amsterdam Inn & Suites through exceptional food preparation and customer satisfaction.

Duties & Responsibilities

Management reserves the right to modify job duties and responsibilities as business needs require.

Responsibilities include:

Set up and stock workstations with required ingredients, supplies, and cooking equipment
Prepare ingredients for cooking, including chopping vegetables, cutting meats, and preparing sauces
Cook menu items in cooperation with the kitchen team using various cooking methods and equipment
Follow instructions and communicate effectively with the Executive Chef and Sous Chef
Ensure food is prepared and served simultaneously, maintaining quality and timely delivery
Clean and sanitize workstations according to company standards and health regulations
Properly store and manage inventory, supplies, and leftover food
Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards
Foster a positive and professional working relationship with coworkers and customers
Assist other team members as needed to support kitchen operations

Qualifications

To successfully perform this role, candidates should demonstrate the following skills and abilities:

Strong cooking skills with attention to detail
Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision
Friendly, approachable, and professional attitude
Strong communication skills, with the ability to understand written and verbal English
Team-oriented with the ability to create a positive work environment
Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position
Reliable attendance and flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays

Education & Training

Required/Preferred:

Culinary school diploma, certificate, or related training considered an asset
Food Safety and Workplace Safety certification preferred

Experience

Previous kitchen experience considered an asset
Knowledge of cooking techniques and food preparation methods preferred
Experience as a Line Cook, Restaurant Cook, or Prep Cook is an asset

Additional Requirements

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
Ability to stand and work on your feet for extended periods
Working knowledge of kitchen procedures and cooking techniques

Pay: $16.00-$19.00 per hour
