As a Project Buyer, you will work directly with hardware, integration, and logistics partners as well as the cross-functional Eigen team to support project quoting, on-time delivery, and ensure profitability on new projects delivered to manufacturing facilities or through strategic partners.
You will establish procurement, logistics, and inventory management processes to support the growth of a scaling organization. Your expertise in contract management and negotiation may also be extended to support other activities in new project quoting, customer onboarding, and indirect procurement. This is a hybrid remote role reporting to the Manager, Delivery & Integration. Preference will be given to candidates within commuting distance to the Fredericton office for on-site support, as needed.
Responsibilities
Project Procurement
- Develop/maintain a complete, accurate procurement plan that will ensure purchase orders are placed with the appropriate lead times to meet project specific schedules, budgets, deliveries and risk mitigation targets.
- Communicate status regularly to the project and leadership teams.
- Manage the approved vendor list and maintain the required documentation with the respective suppliers (NDA, credit, agreements, etc).
- Responsible for issuing purchase orders (PO), collecting PO acknowledgements, issuing PO change orders, leading invoice resolution activities, coordinating weekly monitoring of supplier progress to promise/need by dates, expediting suppliers, and escalating to Project Management lead for commercial leverage and proactive communication with the cross-functional team.
- Manage the submission/follow-up of RFQs and lead negotiations of product and services in order to achieve cost goals.
- Support the negotiation of contractual agreements where required. Seek opportunities for cost reduction as volume increases on specific purchased components.
- Escalate supplier delivery and/or quality challenges and ensure recovery of costs where appropriate.
- Drive supplier on time delivery performance while anticipating risks and escalating appropriately.
- Manage customs and logistics processes with both Eigen and customer logistics partners, freight forwarders, and customs agencies. Shipments are predominantly Canada/US/Mexico/EU but may extend to other countries as well.
- Contribute to standardization and continuous improvement of procurement processes.
- Continuously monitor supply chain risk and ensure contingency plans are in place with alternate suppliers of similar components.
- Forecast procurement spend by project and vendor in collaboration with the project teams and finance.
Indirect Procurement
- Manage procurement of office supplies, packaging, lab equipment, contract services, 3rd party software vendors, and logistics/customs providers
- Forecast spend in collaboration with functional departments and finance
Inventory Management
- Maintain inventory at Eigen office/warehouse as well as both production and demo hardware stored at partner locations
- Complete annual physical inventory with support of the cross-functional team
What you're bringing to the role...
- Education and/or experience in procurement, preferably in an industrial environment or with automation equipment
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute on the needs of multiple internal/external partners simultaneously, and manage time independently
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce detailed documents and reports
- Analytical problem-solving abilities – ability to think on your feet and communicate
- The ability to influence in a team-based environment is essential
- Experience working productively with vendors
- Oral and written proficiency in English is required; other languages are beneficial.
- Some travel may be required (< 10%)
- Ability to support light physical demands (packages up to 30 lbs) to assist with customer order fulfillment

Pay: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
