Job Description

The New Brunswick SPCA is seeking an Animal Protection Officer in Zone 2 - York, Sunbury & Queens counties.

As an Animal Protection Officer (APO), you will play a vital role in supporting the NB SPCA in maintaining high standards of public safety and animal welfare.

The APO will respond to client/public inquiries and complaints and handle sensitive and confidential information in a trusted and responsible manner. You will work closely with the Chief Animal Protection Officer, Deputy Chief Animal Protection Officer, Animal Shelters, and other Animal Protection Officers, as well as policing agencies (municipal and RCMP), to enforce the SPCA Act of NB and its Regulations

The ideal candidate will possess:

· Successful completion of Grade Twelve (12) or equivalent.

· Experience in handling animals is considered an asset

· Completion of enforcement training from a recognized institution is required.

· Experience in security, bylaw enforcement, or law enforcement is required.

· Demonstrated organizational, investigative, and analytical skills

· Strong commitment to the protection and care of animals

· Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills

· High level of critical thinking and independent judgment, reasoning, and discretion

· Proficient with PC applications; Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and Outlook

· Valid NB Class 5 Driver’s license

· English - spoken French is consdered an asset

This position is full-time, 37.5 hours per week, with a rotating after-hours on-call schedule, and is a unionized position with the New Brunswick Union.

The successful candidate must also be neat and professional in appearance, physically and medically fit, and have clean criminal and driving records checks.

The New Brunswick SPCA provides uniforms, all training and equipment, and a marked vehicle to the successful candidate. Health Benefits are part of the employment package.

This is a unionized position under a collective agreement with the New Brunswick Union.

La SPCA du Nouveau-Brunswick est à la recherche d’un agent de protection des animaux dans la zone 2 - comtés de York, Sunbury et Queens.

Le candidat idéal possédera :

Avoir terminé avec succès la douzième année (12) ou l’équivalent.

Une expérience dans la manipulation des animaux est considérée comme un atout

Une formation en matière d’application de la loi dispensée par un établissement reconnu est requise.

Une expérience en matière de sécurité, d’application des règlements municipaux ou d’application de la loi est requise.

Compétences démontrées en matière d’organisation, d’enquête et d’analyse

Engagement fort pour la protection et le soin des animaux

Excellente communication verbale et écrite et compétences interpersonnelles

Niveau élevé de pensée critique et de jugement, raisonnement et discrétion indépendants

Maîtrise des applications informatiques pour PC; Microsoft Office (Word et Excel) et Outlook

Permis de conduire valide NB Classe 5

Anglais - le français parlé est un atout

Ce poste est à temps plein, 37,5 heures par semaine, avec un horaire rotatif après les heures de disponibilité, et il s’agit d’un poste syndiqué avec le syndicat du Nouveau-Brunswick.

Le candidat retenu doit également avoir une apparence soignée et professionnelle, être physiquement et médicalement apte, et avoir des vérifications de casier judiciaire et de conduite propres.
