Nuvation Energy designs and manufactures electronics for energy storage. We're hiring a Senior Buyer to own electronic component sourcing for our Production and Design teams.
You'll own electronic component sourcing end to end, from supplier strategy and negotiation through day-to-day execution. You're responsible for component availability, cost, and supply continuity across every Nuvation Energy product. You’ll report to the Director of Procurement.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and supply agreements with vendors, and reduce cost across the component base.
- Manage component supply risk: allocation, product change and end-of-life notices (PCNs/EOLs), last-time buys, and qualifying second sources and alternates.
- Partner with the Engineering teams at the component-selection to provide sourcing and cost analysis reports on new-product bills of materials (BOMs).
- Own supplier and contract-manufacturer performance: track on-time delivery and quality, run reviews, and manage excess and obsolete (E&O) and minimum-buy liability held on Nuvation's behalf.
- Set and manage inventory strategy (safety stock, min/max, reorder points) against production and new product development forecasts.
- Be the team lead, coordinating and prioritising day-to-day work and mentoring over time. The Director of Procurement retains personnel management.
- Procure printed circuit boards (PCBs), board-level components, cable assemblies, packaging, and mechanical hardware.
- Manage vendors, place and expedite orders, and oversee receiving.
- Manage contract manufacturers day to day: issue assembly purchase orders (POs), coordinate consigned material and kitting, and clear shortages to keep builds on schedule.
- Maintain BOMs and keep inventory accurate through cycle counts.
- Manage build and schedule planning.
- Handle order fulfillment and returns (RMAs)
- Coordinating incoming/outgoing logistics and creating supporting documentation
- 8+ years in supply chain, with a focus on electronic component procurement
- Supply chain diploma or designation (e.g. SCMP, CPSM), or equivalent experience.
- Experience with NetSuite ERP is an asset.
- Demonstrated supplier negotiation experience, including pricing and terms.
- Experience managing component shortages and allocation in a hardware or contract-manufacturing environment.
- Direct experience working with contract manufacturers or electronics manufacturing service providers, including managing consigned material and build schedules.
- Familiarity with component lifecycle management: product change notices (PCNs), end-of-life (EOL), and alternate-part qualification
- Production management experience
- Understanding of logistics and Incoterms
- Advanced knowledge of Excel for reporting and automation rather than data entry alone (complex formulas, pivot tables, and tools like Power Query or macros)
- Proficient with Outlook, Word, SharePoint, and Teams
- Fast, accurate, and thorough in data entry and document management
