Our client is in search of an experienced and driven Accounting Manager to lead daily operations within their accounting team. Based in St. John's, NL the successful candidate will lead and oversee accounting functions ensuring the integrity of financials, controls, and reporting. This is a permanent, full-time career opportunity.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and general accounting, across corporate and branch operations
Establish and maintain accounting procedures, controls, reporting, and best practices
Month-end and year-end closing across all operations
Oversee monthly intercompany reconciliations, resolving discrepancies as needed
Identify financial risks, control weaknesses, and areas for improvement
Liaise with external auditors, banks, and stakeholders

Experience & Attributes for Success:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field
Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is strongly preferred. Significant progress toward a CPA designation will be considered an asset
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience supervising or leading a team
Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and financial reporting
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Experience with cross-border Canadian–U.S. operations is a definite asset
Demonstrated ability to manage complex reconciliations involving high transaction volumes and significant dollar values
Ability to analyze financial results, identify trends and variances, investigate discrepancies, and understand the story behind the numbers
Highly detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy, consistency, and quality of financial information
