The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (the Conservation Authority) is seeking a highly motivated and detailed orientated individual for the position of:
Planning Customer Service Technician
12-Month Contract
Newmarket, Ontario
Hourly Rate: $34.89 - $43.61
Reporting to the Manager, Planning, the Planning Administrator provides front-line customer service and administrative coordination to support the delivery of land use planning and development review services. This role is a key point of contact for applicants, consultants, and the public, and plays an integral role in managing planning application workflows and records.
What you offer
· Currently enrolled or recently graduated from a post-secondary education program, preferably in Planning or a related field of study.
· Excellent public relations and interpersonal skills to deal courteously and effectively with members of the public, applicants and internal staff.
· Strong writing skills for the purpose of drafting letters, reports, and official responses on behalf of the Conservation Authority.
· Ability to read, interpret, and apply relevant legislation, policies, and procedures (e.g., Planning Act, Conservation Authorities Act is an asset).
· Strong research skills.
· Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
· High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and document management.
· Computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with GIS is an asset.
What you will do
· Answer public inquiries related to the Development Services department in person, over the phone, and via email. Assist customers with the submission of technical information and provide information on fees
· Prepare various pieces of correspondence and communication on behalf of the department
· Receive, review, and pre-screen planning applications for completeness in accordance with applicable legislation and Conservation Authority requirements.
· Coordinate the intake process by creating application files, uploading submissions into SharePoint and internal tracking systems, and circulating applications to planning, engineering, regulations and technical staff.
· Prepare invoices, track payments, and liaise with finance staff as required
· Assist in the preparation of reports, statistical summaries, and other department metrics.
· Records Management including managing digital filing systems.
· Prepare basic mapping, schedules, and supporting materials (GIS support considered an asset).
· Other duties as assigned.
