Business Development ManagerJob Overview

We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Business Development Manager to support the continued growth of our business. This role focuses on identifying new sales opportunities, developing strong relationships with prospective and existing customers, and expanding our presence in target markets.

The ideal candidate is confident in building new business relationships, managing the sales process, and identifying opportunities for long-term account growth. This position combines business development, sales strategy, customer relationship management, market research, and field-based sales activities. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams to develop new accounts, strengthen existing partnerships, and contribute directly to revenue growth.

Duties

Identify and develop new business opportunities through prospecting, market research, networking, referrals, and direct outreach.
Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective and existing customers.
Manage the full sales process, from initial contact and qualification through quoting, negotiation, follow-up, and closing.
Develop sales strategies that support company growth objectives and increase market presence.
Conduct customer meetings, presentations, site visits, and other business development activities as required.
Understand customer needs and recommend appropriate products, services, and solutions.
Prepare and present quotations, proposals, pricing, and other sales information.
Negotiate pricing, terms, and agreements while maintaining profitable and sustainable customer relationships.
Maintain regular communication with existing accounts to identify upcoming projects, additional needs, and opportunities for continued growth.
Use CRM systems to document customer interactions, manage leads, schedule follow-ups, and track sales activity.
Monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to identify potential business opportunities.
Collaborate with marketing and internal teams on promotions, lead-generation initiatives, and customer outreach.
Provide management with updates on sales activity, opportunities, customer feedback, and market developments.
Represent the company professionally during customer meetings, networking events, trade events, and other business activities.

Skills & Qualifications

Previous experience in business development, sales, account management, or a related customer-facing role is preferred.
Strong sales, prospecting, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Confident and professional when approaching prospective customers and developing new business relationships.
Ability to manage multiple leads, accounts, opportunities, and follow-up activities efficiently.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Self-motivated and comfortable working independently while contributing to team objectives.
Ability to identify customer needs and develop appropriate sales solutions.
Strong follow-up skills with a focus on converting opportunities into long-term customer relationships.
Experience using Salesforce or another CRM platform is considered an asset.
Comfortable working with sales data, customer information, and pipeline reporting.
Ability to understand market trends and use customer feedback to identify growth opportunities.
Strong problem-solving skills and a professional, customer-focused approach.
Experience within construction, building materials, home renovation, flooring, or a related industry is considered an asset.
Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation for customer meetings, site visits, and local business development activities.

Compensation

Guaranteed base pay plus performance-based commission.
Additional earning potential based on sales results and business development success.
