About the Position:

The BGC Niagara is is currently seeking qualified candidates to fulfill the role of the Childcare Program Worker. The role of the Childcare Program Worker is to help carry out the day to day operations of the child care center, helping implement programs for children in care within the requirements of the current curriculum following How Does Learning Happen?

Employment type:

Full Time: 35 - 44 hours per week
Part Time: 0 - 34 hours per week

Starting rate:

Program Workers - $21.08-$22.08/hr.
Registered Early Childhood Educators - $23.86- $24.86/hr.
On top of the base wage, Program Workers working in Licensed Child Care and Ontario After School Programs (OASP) receive a $2/hr. Wage Enhancement

Qualifications needed for Employment

College and/or University Diploma/Degree in: Child and Youth Worker Diploma/or; Recreation and Leisure Diploma/or; Ontario Teachers College Diploma/or: Registered Early Childhood Educator/or; Second year students in applicable diploma/degree programs may be considered for part time employment - At time of hire
Registered with the Ontario Teacher College/ College of ECE’s if applicable Diploma. - At time of hire – Proof of membership in good standing
Current Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance - Valid only if obtained within 6 months or less. Must have proof of receipt at time of hire
Immunizations Records - At time of hire
Standard First Aid/CPRC - Must be valid at time of hire
Food Handlers - Can obtain during employment
High Five - Can obtain during employment
Previous Child Care Experience - Preferred

Duties and Responsibilities:

The role of the Program Worker is to help carry out the day to day operations of the child care center, helping implement programs for children in care within the requirements of the current curriculum following How Does Learning Happen? Deliverables include but are not exclusive to:

Responsible for care and safety of the children;
Prepare daily plans for assigned activities consistent with program curriculum handbooks;
Supervise and instruct children assigned to your group;
Follow the safe arrival and departure practices;
Follow the healthy principles of child development, High 5;
