Through culturally grounded programs rooted in respect, tradition, and community, NRNC delivers services in health, justice, education, and family support.
The Kizhaay Anishinaabe Niin Program focuses on engaging Indigenous men and male youth in ending violence against Indigenous women and girls by promoting healing, accountability, cultural identity, and healthy relationships.
Position Overview
NRNC is seeking a dedicated and culturally grounded Coordinator to lead the Kizhaay Anishinaabe Niin Program.
This role provides one-on-one peer support and facilitates group programming for Indigenous men and male youth committed to ending violence in their lives and communities. The Coordinator is responsible for the implementation, coordination, facilitation, and evaluation of the program, while ensuring alignment with the Kizhaay Anishinaabe Niin Community Action Toolkit and adapting programming to meet community needs.
Schedule
- Monday to Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- 40 hours per week
- Includes 1-hour paid lunch
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and delivery of the Kizhaay Anishinaabe Niin Program
- Provide culturally based one-on-one peer counselling and group support
- Develop and facilitate workshops, information sessions, and group discussions
- Coordinate cultural teachings, ceremonies, and healing activities
- Organize land-based and cultural programming (e.g., drumming, firekeeping, lacrosse, hunting, fishing, land camps, socials)
- Support prevention and intervention efforts related to domestic violence
- Provide referrals to community supports (mental health, addictions, housing, etc.)
- Build and maintain a volunteer support circle to enhance program delivery
- Maintain accurate client files, case notes, and case management practices
- Complete all required internal and external reporting
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and outcomes
- Ensure program delivery aligns with community needs and established frameworks
- Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications
- Social Work Diploma or education in a related field
- Experience working with an Indigenous organization in a similar role
- Experience working with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and cultural resource people
- Proven ability to coordinate and facilitate programs and workshops
- Peer counselling training (asset)
- Trauma-informed care training (asset)
Requirements
- CPIC with Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Valid driver’s license
- Valid vehicle insurance with appropriate liability to transport clients
- Driver’s abstract
- First Aid & CPR Certification
- Up-to-date immunization record
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including computer proficiency
- Positive role model demonstrating healthy lifestyle and relationships
- Knowledge of domestic violence and its impacts on individuals and families
- Understanding of Indigenous history, culture, and men’s traditional roles
- Peer counselling and case management skills aligned with best practices
- Ability to facilitate group sessions and engage participants effectively
- Strong organizational, coordination, and time management skills

Pay: $40,000.00-$48,000.00 per hour
