THE OPPORTUNITY
Hands provides short-stay stabilization and intensive treatment services, operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The Child and Youth Worker (CYW) Live-In Treatment Services (LITS) will implement mental health stabilization plans or treatment service recommendations for clients who are experiencing social, emotional, or behavioural problems. Services may be delivered in a variety of settings in accordance with each client’s individualized treatment plan and service will vary according to client need. The CYW will operate as part of a multi-disciplinary team and will collaborate with other community professionals to best support the client’s mental health needs. The CYW is responsible for supporting general home management including housekeeping, grocery acquisition, and meal planning/preparation within the LITS environment. The CYW will provide crisis support to the crisis line, which includes conducting risk assessments, developing safety plans, and making recommendations or referrals for clients.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Related work experience is an asset.
- Experience working with youth with complex needs is an asset.
- Understanding of trauma-informed, therapeutic crisis intervention and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is an asset.
- Knowledge of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy is an asset.
- Understanding of Family System Theory is an asset.
- CPR and First Aid Certification is an asset.
- Aware of regional resources, services and funding available that may be beneficial to clients.
- Excellent time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient software skills using the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and Outlook).
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety, with a willingness to contribute and lead in the culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events for clients and their families/caregivers, colleagues, other community members and yourself

Certification/Registration/Membership
Successful applicants will be required to provide:
- Proof of eligibility to work in Canada
- A valid class G Ontario driver’s licence and use of a reliable motor vehicle; insurability on Agency vehicle insurance policy
- Clear Police Record Check, including Broad Record Check
Preference will be given to bilingual (French/English) candidates
JOB DETAILS
Hours of Work:
- Casual relief
- This position requires flexibility in scheduling; shifts may include early mornings, days, evenings, weekends, and overnights at our 24 hours/7days a week/365 days per year operations.
Hourly Rate/Salary
- Minimum $28.50 to maximum $34.68 per hour; salary commensurate with education and experience.
