About the Role
We are looking for a Technical Sourcing Specialist who can support procurement, supplier management, and technical sourcing for aerospace and advanced manufacturing products.
This role is ideal for someone who can work from BOMs, drawings, datasheets, and technical specifications to source the right materials, components, and suppliers. The successful candidate must be able to solve supply chain problems, including shortages, long lead times, obsolete components, supplier delays, and material availability issues.
This is not a basic purchasing and inventory management role. We need someone who can think critically, ask the right technical questions, identify alternatives, and keep production moving.
Responsibilities and Duties
Technical Sourcing & Supplier Management
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers for technical and manufactured components, including CNC parts, metals, plastics, electronics, cable assemblies, bare boards, chips, textiles, adhesives, and other production materials.
- Source parts and materials based on drawings, BOMs, material requirements, tolerances, finishes, coatings, datasheets, and supplier specifications.
- Request and compare supplier quotes, lead times, minimum order quantities, tooling costs, certifications, and quality requirements.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to support cost, quality, delivery, and production needs.
Supply Chain Problem Solving
- Identify and resolve supply chain issues that could delay production, including shortages, long lead times, supplier delays, discontinued parts, quality issues, and material constraints.
- Find alternate suppliers, equivalent components, substitute materials, or manufacturing solutions when the original option is unavailable, too costly, or not suitable.
- Work with engineering, production, and quality teams to assess whether alternate parts or materials are acceptable.
- Track critical supply risks and communicate solutions clearly before they become production delays.
Procurement & Inventory Support
- Issue and manage purchase orders for production, R&D, and operational requirements.
- Monitor open orders, expedite critical parts, and follow up with suppliers to maintain delivery timelines.
- Support inventory planning, reorder points, component availability, and production readiness.
- Maintain accurate supplier, pricing, lead time, and part information in ERP/MRP systems.
- Other duties as required.
