Who we’re looking for?
CBC Northwest Territories (NWT) is looking for an experienced journalist to work alongside our morning assignment producer to co-ordinate a team of reporters that brings our audiences breaking news, information and insight across CBC North’s various programs and platforms, including radio news and current affairs, CBC Northbeat and cbc.ca/north.
You’ll lead the late shift, from 1pm to 9:45 pm, taking primary responsibility for developing, editing and vetting stories. We are looking for someone who is a strong coach and mentor, as well as someone who is detail-oriented and confident in making decisions. You’ll also need sound journalistic and critical judgment, initiative and creativity, and a strong knowledge of the NWT’s news and current affairs and Indigenous communities.
You will have the opportunity to initiate ideas, and produce stories and projects. There will be latitude for initiative, independent judgment and creativity and a requirement to adhere to CBC journalistic and program policies, standards and practices. You will work with an editorial leadership team led by the NWT’s executive producer.
