About the job

Gardner Electric was established in 1983 and has grown into one of the most respected electrical companies in Atlantic Canada. We work on industrial, commercial, and institutional projects across New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, out of our offices in Saint John and Dartmouth. The Gardner Electric team is a close knit family as is evidenced by the number of long term employees we have. We are looking for the newest member of the family.

We need someone to look after the front office in Saint John and take care of accounts payable, purchase orders, and payroll input. The successful candidate will be polite and professional on the phone and in person, accurate with numbers, and happy working as part of a small team.

What you'll do

· Answer and direct calls, greet clients, suppliers and visitors, and look after mail and courier

· Process vendor invoices and supplier payments

· Process purchase orders and track costs

· Reconcile vendor statements and help with month end

· Enter and review field and office timesheets, and support payroll processing

· Keep employee time records up to date

· Order and track office and shop supplies

· Carry out day-to-day office administration — filing, scanning, copying

· Help the project and estimating teams with paperwork and correspondence

Education and experience

· High school diploma, plus a two-year post-secondary diploma in a related field

· 3 years of administrative or accounting support experience

· Strong Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook skills, and Adobe Acrobat

· Knowledge of Jonas Construction Software would be considered an asset

· Experience in construction or another project-based business would be considered an asset

We are looking for someone to join us in our Saint John office as soon as possible.

Salary is $38,000 to $48,000 a year depending on experience and education.
