The Information Technology (IT) Clerk will be responsible for facilitating administrative components in support of the Student Information System (SIS) applications such as PowerSchool, Safe Arrival, School Messenger, Power Scheduler, and Enrollment/registration. This role will also administratively support the GNSPES platform. The Clerk will take direction from the IT team to process password changes, enroll and update student information, and assist the team with administrative tasks. The Clerk will attend regular meetings and work with the team in the decision-making process and prepare all necessary documentation relating to this function. The Clerk will also provide support for other initiatives within Information Technology Services. Working in a client service-based environment, the IT Clerk reports directly to the Coordinator, Information Technology.
Key Responsibilities
The Information Technology Clerk shall perform those tasks assigned by the Coordinator, Information Technology. These tasks may vary from time to time and may include but not be limited to the following:
- Provide administrative support to the Student Information Systems and Registration teams;
- Complete task-based assignments such as updating passwords, creating user accounts, and assisting school staff with support in PowerSchool and/or GNSPES as required;
- Prepare agenda, meeting notes and run reports for monthly team meetings;
- Prepare and forward authorized and approved financial forms to Finance for payment;
- Respond to general inquiries relating to the PowerSchool or GNSPES systems, SchoolMessenger, SafeArrival, and EduPost systems;
- Liaise with other Departments as appropriate;
- Communicate with Technology Services to maintain electronic forms, documents, etc., as required;
- Manage all correspondence as requested by the SIS team and the IT Coordinator and for other employee groups as requested;
- Provide assistance and support to management staff as required;
- Provide support for initiatives within Information Technology Services as required;
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications

Completion of Diploma in Technology and/or Administrative related discipline or acceptable combination of relevant training and experience;

Strong administrative and technology background in data management and report writing using a variety of software programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, database systems;

Experience with PowerSchool an asset.
Rate of Pay:
This is a Professional Employees Group (PEG) position classified on the Education Entities Non-Union Compensation Framework at Band 2 with an annual range starting at $42,528.

The Information Technology Clerk shall have the following competencies:

- The ability to work and communicate effectively within the Halifax Regional Centre for Education, with school, staff, students, parents/guardians, community members and external groups such as government agencies;
