Full job description

Kuugaq Cafe is seeking a motivated, customer-focused, and dependable Front Manager / Barista-Server to lead our front-of-house operations while providing exceptional service to our guests.

This position combines leadership responsibilities with hands-on service duties. The successful candidate will oversee daily front-of-house operations, support staff, ensure excellent customer experiences, and assist with beverage preparation and food service.

Key ResponsibilitiesFront Manager Duties

Supervise and support front-of-house staff during daily operations.
Schedule staff and assist with shift planning.
Ensure excellent customer service standards are maintained.
Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and feedback professionally.
Monitor cash handling procedures and daily sales reconciliation.
Maintain inventory of front-of-house supplies and place orders as required.
Ensure cleanliness, organization, and presentation of the dining area.
Assist with staff training and onboarding.
Support management with operational improvements and reporting.

Barista / Server Duties

Greet customers warmly and provide outstanding service.
Take food and beverage orders accurately.
Prepare coffee, espresso beverages, teas, and specialty drinks.
Serve food and beverages efficiently.
Operate the POS system and process transactions.
Maintain cleanliness of coffee equipment, service stations, and customer areas.
Follow all food safety and sanitation standards.
Assist with opening and closing procedures.

Qualifications

Previous experience in a supervisory, restaurant, café, or hospitality role.
Experience as a barista or server is considered a strong asset.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities.
Reliable, professional, and self-motivated.
Experience with POS systems and cash handling.
Food Safe Certification is an asset.

Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (11 kg).
Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays when required.
