We are looking for a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team and gain hands-on experience across multiple areas of the nuclear industry. This role is designed to provide broad exposure to a growing engineering services business, with opportunities to contribute to quality assurance (QA), project engineering planning, and mechanical design depending on project needs.
The selected candidate will work alongside experienced engineers and may be involved in both office-based engineering work and field support activities.
Role Overview
This internship is intended to give candidates real exposure to how engineering work is executed in the nuclear industry. Work will vary depending on demand and may include:
- Supporting Quality Assurance (QA) activities and documentation
- Assisting with project planning and coordination
- Contributing to mechanical design and tooling development
- Participating in engineering problem-solving and field execution planning
Candidates will be expected to take initiative, stay organized, and communicate regularly with the team.
Typical Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and reviewing engineering documentation and procedures
- Support coordination between engineering, QA, and client teams
- Help review technical specifications, codes, and project requirements
- Contribute to basic mechanical design tasks (e.g., tooling, mock-ups)
- Assist with planning and tracking project execution activities
- Participate in meetings and provide status updates on assigned tasks
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a Mechanical Engineering or related program
- Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in engineering problem-solving
- Basic familiarity with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks) is an asset
- Good communication and writing skills
- Ability to work both independently and within a team
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
Work Environment & Location
- Head office located in Oakville, Ontario.
- As a service-based engineering company, work locations may vary depending on project and client requirements.
- Work may be performed at client or vendor facilities, including:
- Cambridge / Kitchener area
- OPG (Pickering and Darlington)
- Bruce Power
- Depending on business and project needs, employees may be assigned to support a specific client location for extended periods of time, including assignments in the Cambridge/Kitchener area.
Travel
- Regular travel to client and vendor sites is expected.
- Assignments may involve frequent travel or extended placement at client facilities.
- Support at OPG and Bruce Power sites is often required during planned outages, maintenance activities, and station shutdown periods.
- Opportunities may exist to observe, support, or perform work at nuclear generating stations and related facilities.
- Candidates should be willing and able to travel as required to support project execution and client needs.
