About The Role
The Welder/Fitter will be responsible for designing, fabricating, welding, repairing and installing various items and equipment in the plant. They will complete emergency repairs to keep the plant running.
This is an existing position in the company.

What You Will Be Doing
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Installs and removes equipment. Fabricates/repairs conveyors, tanks, cabinets, and other production support equipment.
· Repairs/welds shackles, cages, wiener plant trees and sticks, etc.
· Installs, welds, repairs: ammonia, steam, high pressure and pneumatic piping systems.
· Replaces worn or corroded overhead line tracks, supports and guiding.
· Reads and interprets drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine layout requirements.
· Plans the sequence of tasks and executes fabrication safely and efficiently.
· Performs calculations and applies shop formulas by using mathematical methods.
· Completes tasks of measuring, marking, and laying out a variety of plate and structural shapes.
· Sets up and operates trade specific machinery to cut and form parts to be assembled.
· Connects components using various welding processes and mechanical fasteners.
· Utilizes material handling, rigging, hoisting, and lifting equipment safely.
· Performs job duties safely and with precision ensuring compliance with drawings and applicable codes and standards.
· Assists Maintenance with emergency repairs.
What You Will Bring
Education: trades certificate or diploma
Languages: English
Experience: minimum 3 years of relevant experience
· Working knowledge of food and meat plant regulatory standards: Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), BRC, food safety, food quality, etc.;
· Must possess mechanical aptitude, including basic knowledge of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
· Ability to work correctly and safely with hand and power tools, steel/stainless steel, pipes, and other related materials.
· Ability to use various welding processes – specifically TIG welding on Stainless Steel.
· Technical Standards Safety Authority (TSSA) Certification
· Fall Arrest Protection Training Course
· Ability to work from schematics, drawings and prints.
· Experience operating Metal Sheer, Press Brake, Rolling Press and Pedestal Drills.
