We are currently looking for an exceptional individual to join our team at High Country Lodge in Diamond Valley.
The Dietary Aide is responsible for supporting meal preparation, delivering meals, food service clean-up and housekeeping services. The Dietary Aide helps ensures Westwinds Communities’ standards and high quality for food services are maintained. The Cook is responsible for meal preparation within the guidelines of the established menu, delivery and clean-up. The Cook ensures Westwinds Communities’ standards and high quality for food services are maintained.
The Candidate:
The successful candidate works closely with the Food Service Supervisor, Cooks, and Community personnel and maintains positive relations. Will have frequent contact with clients, their families and the general public. May be required to provide work assistance to other Westwinds Communities.
Requirements (Dietary Aide):
- Provides an enjoyable dining experience to the clients and guests by plating and serving meals and beverages. Assists clients by providing guidance in the dining room, walker gathering and removal, etc.
- Assists in food service meal preparation.
- Prepares the dining room for meal service, completes meal and kitchen clean-up, and will receive, verify and stock food service supplies.
- Responsible for the proper cleaning of all Food Services equipment, cooking utensils, dishes, etc. according to Community specific procedures.
- Adheres to food service department procedures and food safe handling procedures.
- Assist in the set-up, take down and clean-up for special functions.
- Promotes and actively participate in the Westwinds’ Health and Safety program.
- Attends various committees and training sessions as requested by the Westwinds.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements (Cook):
- Provides high quality production, appetizing meals and food products within specified mealtimes.
- Plates and delivers meals and beverages and prepares meal trays, providing an enjoyable dining experience to the clients and guests.
- Adheres to food service department procedures and food safe handling procedures.
- Assists with menu planning, preparing the dining room for meal service, meal and kitchen clean-up and supply
Qualifications:
- High School graduate (Alberta grade 12 or equivalent), with a minimum of two years previous experience as a Cook in a similar setting (supportive living, care Community or hospitality).
- Proven customer service philosophy.
- Good organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Must have a flexible, willing and positive attitude.
- Good communication skills (English) – both oral and written in addition to basic math skills.
- A demonstrated ability to work within a team environment.
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
- WHMIS and basic food safe certification.
- Must be in good health, physically fit, able to walk and lift, with no history of back problems – a medical may be required.
- Must possess basic computer literacy.
Hourly Range: Dietary Aide - $22.36 – $24.90
Hourly Range: Cook - $24.81 – $28.33
- Candidate must have a flexible schedule with open availability.
Shifts are: The part-time Dietary Aide's normal hours of work are 7:00 am to 2:30 pm (Mon to Fri) and 7:30 am to 1:30 pm (weekends). The Cooks normal hours of work are – Early Cook – 6:00 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. or Late Cook – 9:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. This position has no guaranteed hours but will be providing relief coverage. Please note there is no guaranteed hours, but will be providing relief coverage.

The successful candidate will be required to obtain a Criminal Records Check.
