DLegal Law Office is a growing boutique firm in South Calgary, and we are looking for an Associate Lawyer with 1+ years of Alberta practice experience who wants to build a strong Family Law practice while developing as an advocate.
This role offers something we believe matters early in a lawyer’s career: real responsibility, direct client relationships, meaningful advocacy experience, and access to experienced lawyers when you need guidance.
You will manage your own files, develop strategies with your clients, appear in court, negotiate resolutions and take ownership of your work—within a supportive team and established firm systems.
What You’ll Do
Your practice will focus primarily on Family Law, including contested and uncontested matters. You will:
- Manage your own files from intake through resolution
- Meet directly with clients and develop practical legal strategies
- Draft pleadings, affidavits, agreements, applications and other legal documents
- Conduct negotiations, settlement discussions and mediations
- Appear before the Alberta Court of Justice and the Court of King’s Bench
- Work directly with senior lawyers on strategy and more complex matters
- Develop strong client relationships and take meaningful ownership of your practice
Depending on your interests and the firm’s needs, you may also have opportunities to work in areas such as Wills & Estates, Civil Litigation, Employment Law, Business Law and Real Estate.
Who We’re Looking For
You may be a good fit if you:
- Have 1+ years of Alberta practice experience
- Are an active member of the Law Society of Alberta
- Have Family Law experience, or a genuine interest in developing a Family Law practice
- Enjoy advocacy, negotiation and problem-solving
- Are comfortable taking ownership of files while knowing when to ask for guidance
- Communicate clearly and professionally with clients
- Have strong legal drafting and organizational skills
- Approach difficult situations with judgment, empathy and practicality
- Value respectful, collaborative working relationships
- Want to continue learning and becoming a stronger lawyer
Family Law experience is an asset, but we are also interested in lawyers with transferable litigation or advocacy experience who genuinely want to build their practice in this area.
