Kawartha Controls is a Canadian advanced manufacturing company specializing in the design and production of precision hydraulic manifolds and fluid power systems for OEM customers across North America.
We are seeking an Advanced Manufacturing Technician, Technologist, or Machinist to support a variety of manufacturing, automation, CNC machining, and process improvement initiatives. This position provides hands-on experience working with advanced CNC equipment, robotics, AI-assisted manufacturing tools, automation systems, and continuous improvement projects within a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support CNC machining operations, setup, and process optimization
- Assist with CAD/CAM programming and manufacturing documentation
- Participate in automation and robotics projects
- Assist with the implementation of AI-based manufacturing efficiency tools
- Support machine vision and inspection system development
- Design and build fixtures, work-holding solutions, and manufacturing aids
- Conduct quality inspections and assist with process validation
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and lead time reduction
- Assist with manufacturing data collection, reporting, and analysis
- Work closely with engineering, production, and automation team members on a variety of technical projects
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Advanced Diploma in:
- Mechanical Engineering Technology
- Manufacturing Engineering Technology
- Fluid Power / Hydraulics / Pneumatics
- CNC Programming
- Precision Machining
- Industrial Engineering Technology
- or a related technical field
- Equivalent industry experience will also be considered
- Recent graduates and individuals seeking to advance their careers in advanced manufacturing are encouraged to apply
Desired Skills
Experience with some of the following is considered an asset:
- CNC machining
- Mastercam, CAMWorks, Fusion 360, or similar CAM software
- SolidWorks or other CAD software
- Machine vision systems
- Manufacturing process improvement
- GD&T and engineering drawings
- Inspection equipment and quality systems
Additional Requirements
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working in both office and shop-floor environments
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Must be eligible to obtain Controlled Goods Program (CGP) clearance
Kawartha Controls operates within a Controlled Goods Program environment. Successful candidates must be able to obtain CGP registration, which is administered by the Government of Canada. The assessment may include identity verification, background screening, and a review of an individual's ability to access controlled technical information and defence-related products. Final eligibility is determined solely by the Controlled Goods Directorate.
