The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is a key player in public safety. We are responsible for the supervision and reintegration of offenders serving sentences of two years or more. On a typical day, we manage approximately 15,000 offenders placed within our 43 institutions and more than 8,500 offenders under supervision in the community.

Intent of the process
The immediate need is to fill an existing position on an indeterminate basis at the Sudbury Parole Office and a casual or term position is being considered at the Barrie Parole Office. A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be established to staff similar positions with various tenures (such as indeterminate, term, casual).

The placement of CSC employees with an affected status as a result of a current or future workforce adjustment exercise may be considered ahead of other candidates for a deployment or an appointment. Affected status as defined in the Workforce Adjustment Directive or appendix to the relevant collective agreement.

You must provide proof of education credentials.

Candidates must meet all essential qualifications to be appointed to a position. This will be determined through the use of various evaluation tools.
Candidates may be required to meet the asset qualifications or the organizational needs, depending on the requirements of the specific position being staffed.
Indeterminate employees at the same group and level, or equivalent may be considered for deployment, assignment/secondment prior to the assessment of other applicants. An assignment, secondment, or acting appointment requires approval of your supervisor.

HOW TO :
You will be required to answer screening questions to demonstrate how you meet the Essential & Asset Qualifications (Education and all Experience).
When answering the screening questions, it is not sufficient to say that you have the required qualifications or to list your current or past responsibilities. You must provide concrete examples of tasks you have accomplished with significant details to explain the WHAT, WHEN, WHERE and HOW you acquired each qualification.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a Master's degree in Social Work from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in Social Work.

EXPERIENCE
Experience in the provision of Social Work services to culturally diverse populations.
Experience providing Social Work services in community mental health, medical, acute or forensic settings.
Experience providing crisis intervention services.
Experience establishing, developing and managing productive and cooperative partnerships with community-based services (i.e., community capacity building).
Experience providing Social Work services to vulnerable populations (e.g., cognitively impaired/brain-injured, geriatric, adults who are disadvantaged or in conflict with the law, Indigenous peoples, etc).
