The Muskoka Steamship Association is hiring a Purser. Reporting to the Chief Purser, as a member of our team, you’d be responsible for the preparation and delivery of events aboard our historic ships. As the primary point of contact for our clients you will be addressing any issues that arise throughout the cruise, and supervising other food & beverage staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure care, supervision and positive interactions with customers while cruises are underway.
- Supervise and support servers, bartenders, and galley staff.
- Ensure proper seating in dining rooms and ensure all passengers can be accommodated.
- Maintain and clean ships facilities so that they remain pristine and ready for cruises.
- Act as the primary point of contact for passengers and create a positive rapport to provide world class customer service.
- Be aware of customers dietary/medical needs.
- Attend all training sessions and regular meetings.
- Keep accurate records, incident reports, report immediately to the ship's officers and management any issues faced by customers while at sail.

Qualifications:
- High energy, self-starter
- Certified and up-to-date SmartServe
- Excellent people skills and a friendly, responsible, service-oriented attitude
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Able to problem solve effectively
- Ability to observe/assess client’s behaviour, enforce safety regulations & emergency procedures and apply appropriate behaviour management techniques
- Physically able to provide care during emergency situations that may arise
- Having First Aid/Level C CPR certifications is an asset.
- Valid driver's license
- Candidates should be prepared for physical labour of lifting, moving (chairs/tables, etc.) and lots of walking (very active job)
