Calm & Collected Canine is seeking reliable, experienced animal care contractors for in-home pet sitting and/or dog boarding (in your own home), with potential opportunities to grow into a dog training apprenticeship.
We are looking for individuals interested in building a long-term working relationship in a professional animal care setting.
About the Role
Contractors may offer pet sitting, boarding, or both. You choose your availability, services, and which bookings you accept.
We provide client introductions, operational support, and growth opportunities within the business.
Compensation
- Independent contractor role
- Commission-based earnings per completed project
- Flexible scheduling based on your availability and accepted bookings
Responsibilities
- Providing daily care including feeding, walking, play, enrichment, and basic grooming
- Monitoring pet health, behaviour, and safety
- Maintaining routines and following detailed care instructions
- Communicating regular updates with clients
- Keeping pets and environments clean, safe, and secure
Requirements
- Experience or knowledge in animal care or handling (dogs preferred)
- Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Comfortable handling dogs of various sizes and temperaments
- Access to a reliable vehicle and a smartphone with data
- Physically able to handle large dogs and walks in all weather conditions
- Police record check required (at applicant’s expense)
- Pet first aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
- French not required
Ideal Experience
- Background in pet care, dog handling, veterinary clinics, kennels, rescue, or training
- Calm, observant, and professional approach
- Interest in animal behaviour and training development
- Reliable and trustworthy in client-facing or in-home environments
Dog Training Apprenticeship Opportunity
Qualified candidates may have the opportunity to progress into a dog training apprenticeship through hands-on mentorship and experience within the business.
