GIS / CAD Technician

London, Ontario
Full-Time
$21.00–$25.00/hour + Overtime Pay

North Frontenac Telephone Company (NFTC) is currently looking for 3–4 motivated GIS / CAD Technicians to support ongoing fibre optic network expansions across Southwestern Ontario.

This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or individuals with AutoCAD and GIS experience looking to build a career in the telecommunications industry while working on large-scale rural fibre infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

Prepare permit and construction drawings using GIS fibre planning data
Coordinate with municipalities and local authorities to review and adjust drawings based on municipal requirements
Compile utility locate and infrastructure information to create accurate base maps
Request construction locates through Ontario OneCall
Assist with fibre network planning, drafting, and design reviews
Create and maintain splice documentation and network records
Support project tracking and reporting using ArcGIS Pro
Assist with additional drafting, mapping, and project coordination tasks as required

Required Qualifications

Valid G Class Driver’s Licence
Post-secondary education related to GIS, CAD, Geomatics, or Engineering Technology
Education and/or experience using AutoCAD
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel
Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience using ESRI ArcGIS or Web Maps platforms
Familiarity with GNSS survey equipment
Experience working with municipalities, utilities, or infrastructure projects
Telecommunications industry experience is considered a strong asset
