Full job description

Job Summary:

The Junior IT Assistant provides day-to-day technical support and troubleshooting for employees, assists in maintaining IT systems, and supports the setup and maintenance of hardware and software. This is an entry-level position ideal for individuals starting their career in IT.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide first-level technical support for hardware, software, and network issues
Assist with installation, configuration, and maintenance of desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripheral equipment
Troubleshoot and resolve user issues via help desk tickets, phone, email, or in-person
Support onboarding and offboarding of employees by setting up user accounts, emails, and devices
Monitor and update antivirus, system updates, and routine security checks
Maintain inventory records of hardware and software assets
Assist in data backup and recovery tasks
Escalate complex technical issues to senior IT staff when needed
Follow IT policies, procedures, and security protocols
Assist with internal documentation and user guides

Qualifications:

Diploma or certification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
0–2 years of experience in IT support or related role (co-op or internship experience acceptable)
Basic knowledge of Windows OS, Office 365, and common business software
Familiarity with hardware components and troubleshooting methods
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks
Willingness to learn and grow within the role
Customer-service-oriented attitude

Assets (Not Required but Preferred):

Experience with ticketing systems (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow)
Knowledge of Active Directory and basic networking concepts
A+ or similar IT certification

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $21.00-$25.00 per hour
