Duties and Responsibilities
Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) provides preventive and therapeutic oral health care services to patients in various clinical settings on behalf of the agency. Assignments may include private dental practices, community health centres, long-term care facilities, mobile dental clinics, or public health programs.
The RDH is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered- care while maintaining compliance with all regulatory standards and infection prevention protocols. Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Perform comprehensive dental hygiene assessments, including medical and dental histories.
- Conduct periodontal assessments and charting.
- Provide scaling, root planing, polishing, and fluoride treatments.
- Take and process dental radiographs in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, disease prevention, and home care techniques.
- Identify and report abnormalities or conditions requiring dentist referral.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Adhere to infection prevention and control (IPAC) standards.
- Ensure proper sterilization and maintenance of instruments and equipment.
- Collaborate effectively with dentists, dental assistants, and clinic staff.
- Adapt quickly to new clinical environments and workflows.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with privacy legislation.

Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene program.
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario (CDHO).
- Current CPR Level C Certificate.
- Proof of immunization and TB screening.
- Vulnerable Sector Check.
