Lakeshore, strategically located in the Greater Toronto Area, is committed to reshaping pet healthcare by offering 24/7 emergency care and an extensive array of specialty veterinary services. Animal Health Partners and VetStrategy have collaborated to establish Lakeshore, our second AHP location. We are actively seeking skilled technicians to join our Neurology department. Lakeshore boasts similar amenities to our existing location but with an expanded footprint. Imagine working in a facility where technical expertise and medical equipment rival those found in sophisticated human hospitals, complete with a state-of-the-art 3-Tesla MRI for exceptional diagnostic capabilities.

About the Role:

Our Candidates Require:

To be Registered Veterinary Technician with the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians
Experience in neurology or special interest in neurology is an asset
The ability to perform exceptionally well under pressure
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A passion for making a difference in the lives of pets and their owners
A positive attitude, enthusiasm for the job, and a relentless drive to excel every day

Skills and Effort Requirements:

Under the guidance of the Neurology DVM, your duties will include:

Assisting Doctors with the administration of medication, restraining dogs and cats for performing passive range of motion exercises of neurologically abnormal patients
Ability to identify and report changes to doctor
Follow treatment orders on an electronic system (e.g., Ezyvet, VetRadar)
Work well as part of a team
Experience working with complex neurological cases including assisting in the set-up of stats
Triaging emergency neurology patients and history-taking
Performing and submitting laboratory samples
Communicating discharge instructions to clients for patient's who have had neurosurgery or other procedures
Communicating with clients in person and on the phone to field concerns and queries or to follow-up on post discharge recovery status or to report diagnostic results
Assisting neurologist with neurosurgeries
Performing imaging studies such as CT scan of the spinal column
Administering oral, IM, IV medications
Using independent judgment and initiative
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Analysis of cerebrospinal fluid
Participating as a cooperative team member
Performing general anesthesia for neurosurgical and neurodiagnostic procedures
Ability to multitask and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Other duties as assigned
