JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Coordinator, Equity
Team: Equity Leadership

Job Status: 1 Permanent, Existing Position Vacancy
Reports to: Director, Equity Leadership
Job Level: 7

I. JOB PURPOSE

Collaborates with CNO leaders and staff members, community partners, associations and equity practitioners from Indigenous and Equity-Deserving Groups to promote and support practices that advance the organization’s commitment to equity principles, inclusion and support for registrants from a wide variety of backgrounds.

II. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leads or participates in outreach activities including building relationships with key parties/partners to deliver on CNO’s Community Engagement Strategy and to drive awareness about the importance of equity within CNO and the nursing profession.
Plans, develops and leads key Equity projects in collaboration with CNO staff members and external Equity practitioners.
Identifies opportunities to promote initiatives and best practices related to diversity, equity and inclusion across all levels at CNO and with CNO’s Council by building relationships with key external parties/partners from underrepresented communities and partnering with external equity practitioners to create learning opportunities.
Provides expertise on inclusion, equity and fairness issues related to supporting our registrants, CNO employees, while escalating more complex issues to the Director, Equity Leadership as required.
Conducts research and benchmarks best practices to identify opportunities to strengthen CNO’s multi-year Equity strategy and contribute to key initiatives, action plans and resources.
Works with the Analytics and Research team to identify, monitor and analyze key data, metrics and trends relevant to Equity in healthcare, regulation and legislative environments, and translates applicable legislation to CNO.
Provides consultation and guidance on how to create focus groups, surveys, online sessions with nurses from Indigenous and Equity-Deserving Groups; and educational materials (e.g., training, workshops, presentations) that support inclusive language and culturally safe practices.
Develops a coordinated approach with system partners to advance Equity for staff, Council, registrants and community partners; addresses Equity-related needs in services provided to applicants and registrants; relationships with system partners; and delivery of care to the public.
Collaborates with business areas to develop and administer monitoring and reporting systems and processes to measure effectiveness of activities as they relate to the experience of CNO staff members.

III. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

Completion of post-secondary education related to Equity or Human Rights, policy, health care, health or a complementary discipline in the social sciences.
Minimum three years of related professional experience in a similar role plus lived and learned experience with a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion that may be demonstrated by volunteer experience serving community-based organizations, and ongoing participation in continuing education programs.

Job Competencies, Knowledge, Skills

Communication – demonstrates excellent presentation and report writing skills to share information effectively at all organizational levels to raise awareness of equity, inclusion, diversity and belonging; conveys complex messages in plain language and with appropriate sensitivity; gathers feedback, uses understanding of policies, programs, and data, to adjust approach when difficulty in understanding arises; considers the viewpoints of others when collaborating with key parties/partners to support CNO Equity initiatives.
Project / Program Management – plans work activities, manages competing priorities, identifies critical tasks, organizes, and prioritizes work activities to meet deadlines and sees work activities through to completion; has demonstrated knowledge of success measurement principles and project management methodologies.
Change Management – has a keen awareness of societal issues related to Equity and in-depth knowledge of applying anti-discrimination legislation; supports the implementation of change by identifying others that can help champion and drive change, anticipating and developing plans to address potential obstacles or resistance, and monitoring the implementation of change efforts, modifying approaches as required.
Adaptability – able to assess a situation and propose constructive resolutions that respect and consider different perspectives; anticipates the need to adjust approach to changing situations.
Demonstrates current knowledge of human resource practices and applicable legislation, approaches to develop policy and processes, and the employment law landscape in Ontario.
Proficient in the use of technology to deliver services, including proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook), virtual technologies (e.g. Zoom and Teams).

Hiring Range:

$124,942.00 - $132,770.00

Full Salary Range:

$124,942.00 - $149,930.00
