About Us:
With a legacy spanning over 100 years right here in London, Ontario, Walker Security Locksmith has built a reputation on trust, craftsmanship, and community reliability. We take immense pride in keeping our neighbors safe and maintaining the time-honored skills of the locksmith trade.
We specialize in residential, commercial, and industrial security solutions—from classic key cutting and safe openings to high-tech electronic access systems. We are looking for a motivated, hands-on and reliable Locksmith Apprentice to join our growing team. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in learning a skilled trade from the ground up. We provide the mentorship, the tools, and the professional training to help you establish a lifelong career.
What You’ll Do:
Working side-by-side with our experienced master locksmiths, you will learn the craft from scratch. Your responsibilities and independence will grow as your training progresses, including:
- Learning the Craft: Assisting with installing, repairing, maintaining, and re-keying residential and commercial door hardware.
- Cutting Keys: Mastering the use of key duplication machines, code-cutting equipment, and manual code origination.
- Mobile Service Support: Accompanying senior technicians on field service routes and responding to emergency residential/commercial calls across London and surrounding areas.
- Customer Service: Representing a century-old London brand by providing friendly, professional, and honest communication to clients in the shop and in the field.
What We’re Looking For:
You do not need prior locksmithing experience, but you do need a high level of mechanical aptitude, physical dexterity, and a strong work ethic.
- Mechanical Aptitude: You genuinely enjoy working with your hands, using basic power tools, and figuring out how physical, mechanical components fit together
- Clean Driving Record: A valid Ontario Driver’s License with a clean abstract is mandatory, as you will eventually operate a company service vehicle
- Background Check: A mantadory clean criminal record check
- Patience & Precision: Working with small springs, pins, and tight physical tolerances requires an exceptional eye for detail, focus, and a steady hand
What You Bring:
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a customer-first attitude
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Nice-to-Have: prior introductory exposure or experience in carpentry, property maintenance, hardware installation, or automotive repair
- Must have a safe place to park a company service vehicle overnight
What We Offer:
- Paid On-the-Job Training: Learn a highly respected, specialized trade with hands-on training and mentorship
- Tools & Support: Company vehicle, locksmith specific tools and uniform provided
- Opportunity to build: a long-term career in the locksmith trade
- Competitive wages: based on experience, paid 3-week vacation days and statutory holidays
