Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and friendly Entry Level Paralegal or Law Clerk on a contractor basis. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in developing their legal career in our scope of practice and gaining hands-on experience. The role will involve client intake, case management, client communications, document preparation and filing for Small Claims Court and Landlord Tenant. Careful attention to detail, organizational skills and a positive attitude are essential. Willingness to learn. If applying as a paralegal license is not required but a plus.

Responsibilities

Conduct legal research
Assist with legal drafting eg. Plaintiff's Claims, Defence, Motions, LTB applications
Proofread and review legal documents for accuracy (emphasized)
Interview clients or witnesses as needed to gather pertinent information
Answer phones, conduct client intake, schedule consultations, and maintain calendars
Ensure proper document management through electronic filing systems and less frequently, through physical filing

Requirements

Strong proofreading, writing, and research skills with attention to detail
Completion of Paralegal diploma or Law Clerk diploma essential, as well as genuine interest in legal work. Will also consider those with Legal Assistant diploma
Maintain the highest standards of candour and strict confidentiality in all professional duties and communications
Organizational skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently
Prior work history demonstrating willingness to work and professionalism in any field
Work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively and amicably within a team
Basic understanding of legal procedures and terminology
Able to deliver on strict deadlines as necessary
Not afraid to ask questions and ensure work is correct

Job Types: Part-time, Casual

Pay: $21.00-$23.00 per hour
