Full job description

Yard location: Ottawa, ON
Workdays: Monday to Friday
No Weekends
No Statutory Holidays
Shift Start time: To be determined between 5:00AM to 7:30AM and work 8 to 10 hour shift

What you will do:

Drive a 5 or 3 ton vehicle to deliver freights to assigned stops within Ottawa and surrounding areas
Deliver freights in good condition and within scheduled time (40+ deliveries daily)
Use a handheld device to scan documents and freights
Load and Unload freight in proper sequence with the use of a dolley and or pallet truck (lift up to 70lbs)
Complete any necessary paperwork accurately
Perform all safety checks, including pre-trip and post-trip inspection
Report on all safety hazards and accidents
Use a cellular phone to communicate with dispatch ie. Truck breakdowns, delivery concerns, answer calls, texts etc….
Provide excellent customer service
Build strong client relationships
Adhere to safety and compliance regulations
Additional duties as required

What we require of you:

High School Diploma
Valid G Driver’s License
Clean CVOR and Personal Driver’s Abstract
Courier or LTL experience is an asset
Must have 1 year COMMERCIAL TRUCK DRIVING experience
This shift will be Monday to Friday. 10 hour workdays with start times from 5AM to 7:30AM. Overtime will be paid.
Capable of doing physical labour with a great degree of strength and stamina – lift up to 70lbs
Excellent communication and problem solving skills
Strong organizational skills
Attention to detail and accuracy in paperwork
Customer Focus – experience providing quality customer service
Adaptable to change
Experience working in a fast paced environment
Experience working independently and with minimal supervision
Ability to work on a team and being a team player
Must be comfortable with using onboard or handheld computer devices
Must have a safety and compliance mind set
