Applications are invited for the position of Professor, Early Childhood Education in the Early Childhood Education (ECE) program within the School of Community Studies. This position will commence August 2026 at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus.
Reporting to the Associate Dean, this exciting role requires the successful candidate to develop and provide an invitational learning environment that includes designing, updating, delivering, and evaluating curriculum in a variety of areas in the ECE programs here at Niagara College. Curriculum areas include, but are not limited to, programming and environmental planning for a wide variety of age groups; early literacy, numeracy, music and movement, empowering and supporting families, and developmentally appropriate practices.
The Professor position is responsible for providing academic leadership and developing an effective learning environment for students. The successful candidate should aspire to provide academic excellence in the learning environment, thus enabling our students to achieve success in their careers. This includes designing, revising and updating courses/curriculum; teaching assigned courses; consulting with stakeholders (faculty, community and industry partners); defining course objectives and evaluating student comprehension of objectives; utilize a variety of instruction medium /resources; and provide individualized instruction where necessary. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

A degree in Early Childhood Education or related field

Registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario in good standing

A minimum of 5 years current practical work experience in the ECE field in a variety of settings

A thorough knowledge of the multi-dimensional nature of the ECE field

Proven dedication to excellence in teaching and learning practices as well as commitment to student success

Experience delivering post-secondary courses in a variety of methods (in-person, hybrid, synchronous/asynchronous online)

Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion with adult learners

Past record of forging strong working relationships with peers and co-workers

Indication of contribution to a strong team environment and positive work culture

Evidence of commitment to guiding and supporting post-secondary students toward success

Experience using various computer software packages including Microsoft Office and Learning Management Systems (D2L Brightspace)

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Strong organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills

Knowledge and or experience in the implementation of emergent curriculum / inquiry based learning and pedagogical documentation

Relevant Masters in a related field

Demonstrated competency in curriculum design, delivery and evaluation at the post secondary level
