Right now we are looking for a Registered Practical Nurse to work with our Nephrology, 9 East Unit in the Acute Inpatient Medicine Program.
Employment Status: Full-Time
Reporting Relationship: Manager, 9 E&W Nephrology & Medicine
Hourly Rate: $38.893 - $39.458
Union Group: NOWU
Hours of work: Rotating shifts, 8 or 12 hours, days/evenings/nights/weekends
Location: Humber River Health – Wilson Site
Position Responsibilities:
- RN responsibilities for Nephrology focused patients

Care planning and coordination of care with various team members.

Utilization of computerized systems for documentation of patient care.

Participation in project teams or Hospital committees as required.

Preceptorship of nursing students.
Qualifications:
-
Graduate from a recognized Registered Practical Nursing two year diploma program.

Current RPN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Current BCLS certification.
-
One year recent medical experience with focus on nephrology.

Experience with Peritoneal dialysis, Continuous Ambulatory peritoneal dialysis and continuous cycling peritoneal dialysis preferred.

Completion of Nephrology 1 and 2 required or current enrollment preferred.

Excellent organizational skills with an ability to set priorities.

Experience with patient health teaching.

Demonstrate adherence to the hospital’s code of conduct.

Demonstrate competency in a variety of skills including (but not limited to), intramuscular injections, intravenous therapy initiation and discontinuation, Blood Transfusion, Wound Care Dressing, Medication Administration, etc.

Basic computer skills and Meditech experience is an asset.

Knowledge of community resources.

Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
